Adrianne stuttered as she spoke, "I...I thought you weren't coming back till next week."
"Well, I was" Brian said, "But then, I turned on the TV this morning and apparently, you're turning into a slut."
"Don't call her that!" Nick shouted.
"You shut up!" Brian said, "I'll deal with you in a minute." He turned his attention back to Adrianne, "Are you knocked up?"
"No" Adrianne said, "Even if I was, it would be Nick's baby, not yours. You and I haven't had sex in like, 5 months."
"You never loved me, did you?" Brian asked.
"I didn't say that." Adrianne said, "There was a time, when I did love you. But then, you changed. You were so controlling and abusive. I realize now that deep down, I've always loved Nick. He makes me happy and treats me the way I should be treated. And, Nick's MUCH better in bed than you."
Brian shoved Adrianne to the ground. He was about to hit her, but Nick got in the way and punched Brian in the face.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Nick screamed as he punched Brian again.
"Son of a bitch!" Brian said, "How dare you fuck my wife!!"
Fists were flying and glass was shattered. Nick tackled Brian to the ground and hit him with all his might.
"How could you hurt Adri so much?" Nick asked, "She's the sweetest person I've ever known. And you go and treat her like she's nothing but dirt."
"Oh yeah?" Brian said, "I thought of you as a brother. And then, you go and sleep with my wife."
Nick pushed Brian through the screen door. Finally, Adrianne decided that it had gone on enough.
"Stop it!" Adrianne said, pulling Nick and Brian apart.
Adrianne saw that the knuckles on Nick's right hand were split open. She held his hand and kissed it.
"Are you ok?" Adrianne asked.
"Yeah" Nick replied, kissing her lips, "I'm fine."
Brian grabbed Adrianne's arm, "We're leaving! Say goodbye to blondie. You'll never see him again."
Adrianne threw Brian's hand off her, "Don't touch me! I want a divorce."
Brian laughed, "Yeah right. Your kidding..."
"Wanna bet?" Adrianne said. She walked over to one of her bags, pulled out the divorce papers, and handed them to Brian.
"When did you get these?" Brian asked.
"I've had them for awhile." Adrianne said, "I just haven't had the courage to give them to you until now."
Brian signed the papers, "Fine. Here ya go. It doesn't matter anyway. Wanna know why I left?"
"Why?" Adrianne asked.
"I've been seeing someone else." Brian told her.
"For how long?" Adrianne said.
Brian replied, "Since about two weeks, after we got married."
"Whatever" Adrianne said. "I want you to leave. But before you do, answer me this - how did you know we were here?"
Brian smiled slightly, "I had to force it out of your sister."
Adrianne's jaw dropped, "What did you do?"
"I beat the crap outta her." Brian said, "When I left, she was keeled over on the floor."
"Oh my god!" Adrianne said, "Nick, we gotta go. We have to see if Emily's ok."
Brian had ran off ,when Adrianne and Nick drove to Emily's house.
"Em?" Adrianne shouted when they entered the house, "Sweetie, are you ok? Where are you?"
Adrianne and Nick entered the kitchen. Adrianne screamed. There was blood all over. Emily was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh no" Adrianne cried, "Nick, what if Brian killed Emily and dumped her body somewhere or something."
Nick hugged Adrianne, "Don't think that. I'm sure someone took her to the hospital and left a note around here somewhere. "
Sure enough, there was a note on the table. It was from Nick's Mom. She and Aaron had taken Emily to the hospital. Adrianne and Nick hurried there.
The nurse at the front desk refused to tell Adrianne and Nick, so they searched on their own. After searching for almost an hour, they finally found the room where Emily was.
Emily was laying in bed. Her face was swollen and covered with bruises. Her head was bandaged up. Aaron was sitting in a chair next to her.
"Emily!" Adrianne said as she ran up and hugged her little sister.
"I told Brian where you and Nick were." Emily said softly, "I'm so sorry. But, he said he would kill me if I didn't say."
"It's ok" Adrianne replied, "It's not your fault. Are you ok hun?"
"I'm alright." Emily said, "I just gotta take it easy for a while. So what happened when Brian found you two?"
"Pretty much the typical response." Adrianne said, "Nick and him got into a fight. But, it's ok now. Brian signed the divorce papers. And once the divorce is final, Nick and I are gonna get married. And you'll be my maid of honor."
"You ok?" Nick asked Aaron.
"I was coming to suprise her." Aaron said, "When I knocked on the door, Em started to scream for help. I ran in and she was covered in blood. I've never been so scared in my life."
"It's ok" Nick said, "Emily's fine."
"So, I'm gonna be your best man, right?" Aaron asked.
"Of course" Nick replied.
While Adrianne was signing some release papers for Emily, Nick stood next to her.
"You know this isn't your fault, right?" Nick asked.
"About what?" Adrianne said, "The fact that my sister could've died today and I'm to blame."
Nick rubbed his hand against her cheek, "No, you're not. It's Brian's fault." He kissed Adrianne, "I got a surprise for you."
Nick pulled a small black box out of his pocket and gave it to Adrianne. Adrianne opened it and saw a beautiful diamond engagement ring. She put it on. Nick smiled and the two of them kissed again.
