Adrianne put her clothes back on and headed towards the door. Nick stopped her, "Adrianne, if Brian hit you, I wanna know."

Adrianne started to speak, "Brian, didn't actually hit me in the way you're thinking of. It happened about six months ago. Brian and I were fighting over something stupid. I forget what. Anyway, we both started yelling and then out of nowhere, Brian shoved me into a wall, right into a glass picture frame. I cut my back pretty bad. I had to get twenty stitches."

Nick was pissed beyond words. He got up and punched the wall.

Adrianne stopped him, "Nick, what the hell are you doing?"

Nick replied, "How could he do that to you?"

"I only happened that once." Adrianne said.

"You think that makes it ok?!?!?!?" Nick shouted.

Adrianne started to cry, "Don't yell at me!" She headed toward the door.

Nick followed Adrianne. He hugged her, "I'm sorry. I just hate seeing you get hurt." Nick got dressed. They payed the bill and left.

They went to an arcade next. Adrianne played Pacman, while Nick played some warrior type game.

Adrianne's cellphone went off.

"Maybe, you should answer it." Nick said.

"Yeah" Adrianne said, "But, only so Brian will get off my back.

"Hello"

"Well well, I finally got a hold of you."

"What do you want, Brian?"

"Can't a husband call his wife without having a reason?"

"Unless you're gonna tell me why you left, I don't wanna talk."

"Shut up. What's wrong with you? Is it that time of the month?"

"Fuck you"

"Oh baby, is that an offer?"

"Not for you."

"What was that?"

"Oh nothing"

"Hey, why haven't you been answering my pages?"

"I've been hanging out with Emily and some friends. I haven't really been home."

"Whatever"

"Bye"

Adrianne hung up on him and went back to the video games. Her and Nick continued to play.

"Hey Nick" Adrianne said, "Maybe, we should go. I'm kinda tired."

Nick hadn't heard her. He was too caught up in the game. Adrianne came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Well" she said, "I guess it looks like someone isn't getting any tonight."

That caught Nick's attention, "What? Oh, sorry baby. We can go now."

Once they got back to the house, Adrianne and Nick went upstairs and laid down and listened to some music. Nick held Adrianne close to him.

"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you sooner." Adrianne said.

Nick kissed her softly, "Don't worry about it. That's never gonna happen again. I promise."

Adrianne snuggled closer to Nick and closed her eyes. Nick just looked at her.

'How could Brian hurt her?' Nick said to himself.

Nick meant what he said. He would protect Adrianne and never let her get hurt again.
