Chapter 9

Adrianne sat on the couch of the psychiatrist's room. She looked upset and angry.

"So, Adrianne," the psychiatrist said, "I take it you won't talk today."

Adrianne just sat there and curled herself up into a ball.

The psychiatrist sighed, "The medication is working fine, but we gotta find out why you slash your wrists and take your anger out on everyone. Well... I shouldn't say everyone. You seem to be getting along very well with Nick. In fact, the only time I ever see you smile is when you're with him. Anyway, I guess there's no point in you being here any longer. You can go back to your room now. But, remember this, the sooner you talk to me, the sooner you get out of this place."

Later that day, Nick came and visited Adrianne.

"Hey, sweetie" Nick said, "How are you?"

"I'm alright" Adrianne replied, "They made me go see the psychiatrist today, but I didn't talk to him. I dunno, I just don't feel comfortable talking about my problems."

"But, you talk to me." Nick said.

"You're different." Adrianne said, "Can we please talk about something else? How'd it go in the studio yesterday?"

"Alright" Nick told her. "The guys told me to tell you that they're sorry. They've just been in a bad mood lately and they took it out on you."

Adrianne smiled, "It's ok. I understand."

Adrianne and Nick spent the rest of the time talking about nothing in particular. Nick noticed something on Adrianne's face. He brushed his hand against her cheek gently. At that moment, Adrianne had a warm feeling fill her body. Nick had touched her hundreds of times before, but this was different. She didn't know why.

Nick smiled, "Well, I guess I better go now."

"Ok" Adrianne said, "Good night, Nick."
