*5 MONTHS LATER*

Adrianne had finally been released from the hospital. She was doing much better and going to therapy three times a week. Nick decided to have a party for Adrianne. Everyone was there, including Adrianne and Nick's families.

"I can't believe you did all this for me." Adrianne said to Nick.

"I love you" Nick said as he kissed her, "Besides, this is a big day for you."

Nick led Adrianne to the backyard, where everyone was.

"So, what do you wanna do now?" Nick asked.

Adrianne smiled.

Nick was confused, "What?"

Without warning, Adrianne pushed Nick into the pool.

"Oh my god!" Nick said, "What did you do that for? If you wanted to go swimming you should've said so."

Adrianne laughed, "You know you love me. Besides, I like seeing you soaking wet. I'll be right back."

Nick got out of the pool and stripped down to his swim shorts. Adrianne returned wearing her bathing suit.

"Wow" Nick said as Adrianne walked towards him,

"You're wearing your bikini. Aren't you afraid people might see your scars?"

Adrianne replied, "I don't care. Let them look all they want."

"I like this new attitude of yours" Nick said as he wrapped his arms around Adrianne's waist.

"I got it from you." Adrianne said.

Nick smiled, "You did it yourself."

"Maybe" Adrianne told him, "But, if it weren't for you, I'd probably still be in the hospital. I love you."

Nick kissed her, "I love you too. I've got a surprise for you. Wait here."

Nick returned, obviously holding something in his hand.

"What's going on?" Adrianne asked.

Nick got down on one knee and started to speak, "Adri, I love you so much. I can't imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?"

"Yes" Adrianne said, holding back her tears of joy.

Nick put the ring on Adrianne's finger, got up, and kissed her. Everyone clapped.

"One more thing" Nick said. He pushed Adrianne into the pool, then jumped in himself.

Adrianne wrapped her arms around Nick and kissed him softly.

Nick had saved Adrianne in more ways than one. Now, they were about to start their new life together. They couldn't be happier.
