A week later, Adrianne's condition still hadn't changed. She was still in the coma. Nick never left her side. He sat there all day and all night talking to her.

"Hi, Nick" Kevin said as he entered the room, "Your Mom said you were here. I just wanted to stop by and see if there's anything I can do to help."

"No, but thanks anyway." Nick said.

"Wanna go get something to eat?" Kevin asked.

"I'm not hungry." Nick told him.

Kevin sighed, "When was the last time you ate?"

"I don't remember" Nick muttered.

Kevin shook his head in disbelief, "Nick, I understand you're upset, but you can't keep doing this to yourself. You have to eat. And judging by the way you look, you might wanna get some sleep too. At least get yourself something to eat."

"No" Nick said angrily, "I'm not leaving Adri. What if she wakes up? I wanna be the first person that she sees."

Kevin could see that there was no getting through to Nick, "Fine. I'm gonna go home now. Call me if you need anything."

Once Kevin was gone, Nick started talking to Adrianne again.

"Can you believe Kev?" Nick said, "He's such a pain in the ass. But, I suppose he's right. It's just that I want to be here when you wake up. I love you so much, Adri. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I was really messed up for a while. But, if I hadn't gotten arrested, I would've never met you. So, I guess everything happens for a reason."

Nick kissed Adrianne on the cheek. He never thought he could love anybody, as much as he loved her. Nick suddenly saw a nurse walk in. The nurse had come in to check Adrianne's vitals.

"Her vitals seem to be improving." the nurse said.

"Is that a good sign?" Nick asked.

"Very good" the nurse replied, "But, she has to wake up."

"She will" Nick said, "I know she will."

The nurse smiled and then left.

"You hear that Adri?" Nick said, "We need you to wake up. I miss seeing those pretty little eyes of yours."

Hours passed. It was now well after midnight. Nick was so tired, but he forced himself to stay awake.

"As soon as you wake up and you're feeling better, I'm gonna go with you to see a psychiatrist." Nick said, "I've been thinking, maybe if I went with you, you wouldn't be so scared. Then, you might actually talk to him."

Nick was about to continue talking, but he suddenly felt Adrianne's hand gently squeeze his.

"Oh my god!" Nick said, "Someone get in here quick!"

Dr. West quickly ran in the room, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong" Nick said, "Adrianne just squeezed my hand."

Dr. West examined Adrianne, "There appears to be no change. You must have made a mistake."

"No, I didn't" Nick replied, "I know I felt Adri squeeze my hand."

"It was probably just a muscle spasm." Dr. West said, "That sometimes happens."

Nick didn't care what Dr. West said. He knew in his heart that Adrianne was gonna be ok and that she would be waking up soon.
