*ADRIANNE'S BIRTHDAY*

"Please, sir" Nick said, "It's Adri's birthday. Please let me take her out for the day."

"I don't know" the doctor answered, "Adrianne has been very difficult these last few days."

Nick replied, "I realize that. But, you know, she's fine when she's with me. Please.... I won't keep Adri out late and I'll see to it that she takes her medication."

The doctor sighed, "Fine, but only because I know Adrianne is ok, when she's with you. But, I mean it Nick, don't have her out late. She's already taken her medication for the day, so she should be fine."

Nick smiled, "Thank you, thank you so much!" He went down to Adrianne's room.

"Hi, Nick" Adrianne said.

Nick kissed her, "Hi, sweetie. Happy Birthday!" He handed her a dozen blue roses.

Adrianne's eyes widened, "Oh my god, thank you!"

"You're welcome" Nick said, "There's plenty more where that came from. C'mon, lets go."

Adrianne and Nick got into Nick's car and drove off. They stopped at Nick's parents' house.

"What are we doing here?" Adrianne asked.

"I asked my Mom to help me out with a surprise for you." Nick explained. The two of them went inside.

"Hi guys" Aaron said, "Happy Birthday, Adrianne. Ya know, if things don't work out between you and Nick, you could always go out with me."

Nick rolled his eyes and then looked at Adrianne,

"You'll have to excuse my brother. He thinks he's a pimp."

"I do not!" Aaron said.

"Whatever" Nick laughed, "Where's Mom?"

"She's upstairs" Aaron said, "I'll go get her."

Jane came downstairs a minute later. "Hi" Jane said to Adrianne and Nick, "Adrianne, this is for you" She handed Adrianne a box.

Adrianne opened it. Inside was a long blue dress with spaghetti straps and blue sparkles.

"Nick, told me you liked blue." Jane said, "I hope I made it the right size."

Adrianne nodded yes to indicated that it was the right size.

"Do you like it?" Jane asked.

Adrianne scribbled down on a piece of paper and showed it to Jane - I love it! It's beautiful. Thank you...

"You're welcome" Jane said, "Go put it on. I'm sure you'll look pretty in it."

Adrianne went upstairs in one of the spare bedrooms to change. When she came out after dressing, she bumped into BJ.

"Hi, Adrianne" BJ said, "You look pretty in that dress. Maybe, we could fix your hair and makeup a bit to go along with it. Would you like that?"

Adrianne nodded yes and her and BJ went into the bathroom. BJ styled Adrianne's hair into long, loose curls. Then, she let Adrianne borrow some of her makeup to put on. When Adrianne was all done, she looked in the mirror.

"Very nice" BJ said, "Well, Nick's waiting for you downstairs. Go show him."

"Do I look alright?" Nick asked.

"Yeah, you look fine." Aaron said, "Stop worrying dude."

"I want everything to be perfect for Adri." Nick said.

Aaron motioned for Nick to look up towards the stairs. Nick looked and saw Adrianne coming down the stairs. His jaw dropped.

"Wow" Nick said as Adrianne walked towards him, "You look amazing. Well, you always look amazing... Oh, you know what I mean. Anyway, we should go. I have a dinner reservation for us.

Nick's family said goodbye and then Adrianne and Nick left.

The restaurant Nick took Adrianne to was really nice. Everyone was all dressed up.

"Wow" Adrianne said, "It must take hours just to get a table in this place."

Nick replied, "That's why I made a reservation."

They sat down at a table and a waiter brought them some menus. Adrianne looked at the prices and was shocked. Everything was so expensive.

Adrianne looked up at Nick, "I fell really bad that you're spending so much money on me. I'm not worth it."

"Yes you are!" Nick said, "It's your birthday. And hey, I told you I don't wanna hear you put yourself down again, remember?"

"Yeah, I'm trying not to." Adrianne said.

Dinner was excellent and so was dessert.

"I've got one last surprise for you." Nick said.

"Another surprise?" Adrianne asked, "Nick, you don't have to...."

Nick interrupted, "Trust me, I know you're gonna love this surprise. Lets go."

Nick paid the bill and then him and Adrianne left. He drove Adrianne to the studio.

"What are we doing here?" Adrianne asked.

"You'll see" Nick said. He led Adrianne inside.

When they got in, Nick handed Adrianne a CD.

"Cool" Adrianne said, "You got me a CD."

"Not just any CD." Nick told her, "Listen to it."

He put the CD in the CD player and pressed play. Adrianne listened and suddenly gasped. She now knew what the surprise was.

"Oh my god!" Adrianne said, "This is my song!!"

Nick smiled, "I know. We recorded it last week. I'm gonna talk to our record company and see if I can get this on our next album."

Adrianne kissed Nick, "This is the best birthday present ever. This whole night has been wonderful. I love you."

"I love you too" Nick replied as he kissed Adrianne back. He then looked up at the clock, "Damn, it's getting late. I should probably get you back to the hospital."

Adrianne looked like she was gonna cry as she spoke, "I wish I didn't have to go back there."

"I know" Nick said, "But, you won't be there forever."

"It sure feels like I will." Adrianne said.

They got in Nick's car and drove back to the hospital. Nick kissed Adrianne gently, "I don't wanna leave you..."

"You don't have to." Adrianne said, "Come up to my room with me."

Nick was confused, "I thought visiting hours were over."

"I don't care" Adrianne said, "I'll just sneak you in."

Nick was slightly hesitant at first, but finally agreed. He held Adrianne's hand as they quietly walked into the hospital. They stopped suddenly, because they saw a nurse at the front desk.

"How are we gonna get past her?" Nick whispered.

Adrianne and Nick got on the floor and crawled past the front desk. They got back up when they were sure that the nurse couldn't see them.

"Sorry about that" Adrianne said.

"It's alright" Nick said.

They went up to Adrianne's room. The two of them sat down on her bed. Nick leaned in and kissed Adrianne. They started to lean backwards and laid on the bed. Nick pulled down the straps of Adrianne's dress and began kissing her neck. But then, Nick stopped.

"I'm sorry. Maybe, we shouldn't..." Nick said.

Adrianne interrupted him, "Nick, it's ok."

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Nick asked.

Adrianne nodded yes and they continued. Nick unzipped the back of Adrianne's dress and it fell to the floor. Adrianne took Nick's shirt off. Pretty soon, all of their clothes were in a pile on the floor. Adrianne smiled and her and Nick made love that night. Afterward, they laid there for a while holding each other. Adrianne fell asleep with her head resting on Nick's chest.

*THE NEXT MORNING*

Nick had stayed up all night watching Adrianne sleep. He smiled and stroked her hair gently. He loved her so much.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!?!"
