Aaron walked towards Adrianne and Nick. "Hey, Aaron" Nick said, "What are you doing here?"

Aaron replied, "I was just doing some promo stuff." He looked over at Adrianne, "Wow, you're pretty. What's your name?"

Adrianne didn't say a word. All she did was cuddle against Nick.

"What's the matter?" Aaron asked, "Do you have strep throat or something?"

"No, she doesn't." Nick said, "I'll explain it to you later. Anyway, Aaron this is Adrianne. Adrianne, this is my annoying brother, Aaron."

"So, this is the Adrianne you've been talking about." Aaron said, "It's nice to meet you. Nick never stops talking about you." He took Adrianne's hand and kissed it.

Nick laughed, "Stop hitting on my girlfriend! Shouldn't you be going home now?"

"Yeah" Aaron said, "Are you and Adrianne coming over for dinner?"

Nick looked at Adrianne, "Do you wanna?"

Adrianne nodded her head yes. Her and Nick went back to Nick's car.

"Do I look alright?" Adrianne asked.

"You look great." Nick answered.

Adrianne sighed, "What if they don't like me?"

"They'll love you!" Nick said, "Don't worry"

"Hi, sweetie" Jane said as she hugged Nick, "How are you?"

"I'm good" Nick said, "Mom, this is Adrianne. Adrianne, this is my Mom."

Adrianne smiled slightly. Jane went to shake her hand, but Adrianne stepped back.

Nick turned to Adrianne, "Why don't you go outside for a minute. I'll be right there."

Adrianne went outside and sat on the porch.

Nick turned his attention back to his Mom, "Let me explain..."

"Is there something wrong with her?" Jane asked.

"There's nothing wrong with Adrianne!" Nick said,

"She just doesn't like to talk to anyone except me. It's a long story. Basically, Adrianne suffers from depression. Sometimes, it gets so bad that she cuts herself."

"Oh my gosh" Jane said, "That's so sad. How did you meet her?"

"I was doing community service at the hospital." Nick explained, "Adrianne is a patient in the psycho ward."

Jane went and explained the situation to her family so that they wouldn't bother Adrianne about it.

Nick went on the porch to talk to Adrianne, "You ok, sweetie?"

"I hope your Mom doesn't hate me now." Adrianne said.

"She doesn't hate you." replied Nick, "I explained everything to her."

While dinner was cooking, everyone was out in the backyard. Adrianne clung to Nick, resting her head on his shoulder.

BJ approached Adrianne, "I've got some new CD's up in my room. Do you wanna go and listen to them with me?"

Adrianne looked at Nick.

"Go ahead" Nick said, "BJ doesn't bite."

Adrianne followed BJ up to her room. They started listening to the new 3 Doors Down CD.

BJ handed Adrianne a notebook and a pen, "I know you don't like to talk, so if you need to say anything, just write it here."

Adrianne scribbled down something in the notebook and showed BJ. BJ read it - Thank you.

BJ smiled, "You're welcome, sweetie. Ya know, Nick really loves you. He won't shut up about you."

Adrianne smiled back and wrote in the notebook -I love Nick too

Adrianne and BJ listened to music, until it was time for dinner. Everyone sat down to eat. Adrianne stared down at her fork and knife. She suddenly had the urge to cut.

"Stop it!" Adrianne said to herself, "Don't do this. Not now."

But no matter how many times she told herself not to, Adrianne grabbed the knife and aimed it towards her wrist. Suddenly, Nick saw what was going on and quickly took the knife away from Adrianne. Just to be safe, he took her fork as well.

"Maybe you shou'dn't have sharp objects right now." Nick said.

"I've got some plastic utensils." Jane said.

"I don't think so. She's cut herself with those too." Nick explained.

Jane thought for a moment, then came up with a solution. She got a spoon and handed it to Adrianne.

Adrianne tried to cut her steak, but obviously, she was having some problems. The meat would not cut and the spoon kept banging against the plate, whenever she tried. Adrianne looked up and saw that everyone was staring at her.

"Oh god" Adrianne thought, "They think I'm a freak!" She got up and ran out the door.

"I'll get her" Nick said as he went outside.

Nick found Adrianne sitting on the deck. Tears were streaming down her face.

Adrianne looked up at Nick and said, "I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry?" Nick asked.

"Because I'm a total embarrassment." Adrianne replied.

"No, you're not" Nick said, "I told you I explained everything to them and they're cool with it."

Even though Adrianne felt a little bit better, she started having a crying attack. Tears came down as she rocked back and forth.

Nick helped her up, "I think I should take you back to the hospital. Lets say goodbye to everyone first." Nick led Adrianne back into the house.

"I'm gonna take Adrianne back to the hospital." he said, "She's not really feeling too good."

"Ok" Jane said, "It was nice meeting you Adrianne. I hope you'll come back soon."

Adrianne and Nick pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. Nick turned off the car and the two of them talked for a minute.

"Did you have a good time?" Nick asked.

"I had a great time." Adrianne said, "Your family is really nice."

Adrianne noticed Nick reaching in the back of the car and then he his something behind his back.

"What are you doing?" Adrianne asked, "What's behind your back?"

Nick laughed slightly, "I dunno what you're talking about."

"Show me" Adrianne said.

Nick handed Adrianne what was behind his back. It was a blue teddy bear.

"Thank you!" Adrianne said, "I love it. Blue is my favorite color."

"You're welcome." Nick said, "Now, you'll have something to hold when I'm not around."

Adrianne kissed Nick, "I love you."

"I love you too." Nick said, "Good night"

Adrianne kissed Nick one last time, before going into the hospital. She quietly went up to her room. After taking a quick shower, Adrianne went into bed and fell asleep, hugging her teddy bear tightly.
