Nick entered the hospital. He hated hospitals. They smelled weird and they were always so... depressing. Nick sighed, this was all part of his community service. It was either this or go to jail.
"Good morning, Mr. Carter" a nurse said, "I'll show you around."
The nurse showed Nick just about every section there was. He visited all the little kids, etc.
Afterward, Nick went past the psychiatric ward. He glanced in one of the rooms and saw a girl hunched up in the corner, looking like she was crying. The girl looked to be about 21, with auburn brown hair and greenish blue eyes. For some reason, Nick felt drawn to her.
"You wouldn't wanna visit her." the nurse said.
"Why not?" Nick asked.
"She's not very nice." the nurse said, "Plus, she hasn't talked to anyone in a year."
Nick didn't care, he walked into the room.
"Hi, I'm Nick" Nick said to the girl.
The girl looked up, she was still crying. Nick went to wipe the tears off her face, but she jerked back quickly, looking frightened.
"It's ok. I'm not gonna hurt you." Nick said, "What's your name?"
She nodded no.
"Your name is no?" Nick joked, "What kind of name is no?"
The girl smiled at Nick.
"You've got a pretty smile. I can't believe the nurse said you weren't nice." Nick looked at his watch, "Damn, I gotta go." He went to get up.
The girl grabbed his arm and started to cry.
"Please don't cry." Nick said, "I'll come back tomorrow, I promise."
Nick headed towards the door.
"Adrianne" she said.
Nick turned around, "What did you say?"
The girl spoke quietly, "My name is Adrianne."
Nick couldn't believe it. He had gotten her to talk.
