"Am I dreaming?" she asked sleepily.
"Nope. This is real life," he told her.
"But I can see!" she exclaimed. How? And what the fuck am I doing here?"
"Remember yesterday afternoon I came over and we had a fight?"
"O yea. I think I do."
"Well, anyway I must have gotten you so worked up that you went on a drinking binge and blacked out. You had to get your stomach pumped," he explained.
"That's weird! I can't remember any of that. I only vaguely remember fighting with you and thinking how much I hated you at that moment."
"Yea, well I realize now how much of an asshole I was and I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault. I was a complete selfish bitch to everyone I cared about. It's just I never thought I'd see your face again," she confessed as she started to cry.
"Why didn't you tell me about the baby?" he asked her suddenly.
"How do you know about that?"
"The doctor told us that you had a miscarriage."
"Oh," Melissa said softly thinking how it was all her fault for being careless.
"When were you going to tell me?"
"I swear I was going to yesterday but we started fighting and..."
"It's OK. I understand what you're trying to say."
"Wait! If I was here to get my stomach pumped how did I get my sight back?"
"The doctor offered to do this surgery as an experiment and it worked."
"So I'm normal now?"
"Yea, basically."
"I can't believe it! I'm sorry for the hell I put you through. I treated you like shit and I really should have told you about the baby."
"It's OK. Look, I need to tell you something."
"What?"
"Well, I was so mad at you yesterday and when I went on my date I realized that after you no one else could make me feel the same. See, I've never stopped loving you even when you treated me like crap. I need you Mel," he told her as he looked into her eyes. "I bet you probably still hate me but I just wanted to tell you how I feel." He then turned to leave.
"Wait! Nick come back! I love you too!"
"What?" he said turning around.
"I love you," she said louder this time. "I want to be with you. I know I've acted like such a bitch to you but I don't want you to go. I want to make this right. Don't you?"
"Definitely," he told her as he walked back over to her bedside and kissed her softly.
Melissa kissed him back thinking had it really been over 2 months since she last did this? All she knew was at that moment there was nowhere else she'd rather be.
"Aww," Meg said with a sigh. "They look so cute," she told AJ as they watched through the window looking into Melissa's room.
"Yea, I'm glad they finally made up. Now I don't have to deal with Nick walking around like he's lost the purpose of life," AJ said with a laugh.
"Yea, I know."
"Now I have time to concentrate on other more important things," he told her as he kissed the side if her face.
"I like the sound of that."
"Yea, me too," he agreed as he kissed her for a long, long time.
