As she packed reality crashed down on her. She had to leave. Pretty soon she and Meg were completely packed and all that was left to do was lock up and head over to the airport.
With one last look over the room Melissa and Meg reluctantly left closing the door behind them.
An hour later they were at the airport. Time was going by to quickly. they had already loaded their luggage on the plane and were now preparing to say goodbye.
Nick and AJ had accompanied them to the airport. Their flight would be leaving about an hour after Melissa and Meg's flight.
As Melissa stared at Nick she felt the minutes tick by. Soon they only had 10 minutes until the flight was to board. Ten precious minutes left she thought as she turned towards Meg and AJ and saw that they were making out right there in the middle of the airport. Somehow Melissa just didn't think that making out with Nick would be the best way to spend their last 10 minutes together, especially since she might never see him again.
She sighed deeply and felt so frustrated, not knowing what to say to him. I can't believe this, she thought. We only have minutes left and I don't know what to say.
At her feet was a bag of things she planned to carry on and she was hugging the white tiger that Nick had bought her tightly.
"I can't believe this is it," she finally told him.
"It's not like we aren't going to see each other again," Nick told her.
"Yea. At least I hope so." She stopped and paused for a second. "I love you,' she whispered as tears began to fall down her face. She had promised she wouldn't cry but it was so hard not to.
Next thing she knew she heard her flight announced that it was time to board. Already? she thought. Those last 10 minutes had slipped through her fingers like quicksand.
Ironically enough she realized that on the radio that could be faintly heard since they were standing right under the speaker, I Don't Wanna Kiss You Goodnight by LFO was playing. Hearing the song was only made her cry harder as she threw her arms around his neck and buried her head in his chest.
"I don't wanna say goodbye, just like in this song," she told him as she cryed.
"Then don't. Goodbye is to final anyway. Say something like see you soon or I'll miss you.
"How about Au revoir. It means until we meet again in French."
"Good expression and speaking of French..." he said as he slowly and passionately kissed her.
Melissa kissed back feverishly not wanting to believe that this could be their last kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he pulled her closer and let his hands linger down her body.
"Yo Mel! C'mon we got a flight to catch!" she heard Meg yell ruining the moment. She must have just finished saying goodbye to AJ which probably hadn't taken to long because they'd definitely be seeing each other again. With her and Nick the future was unknown.
As they slowly pulled away from each other Melissa felt like a piece of Velcro being ripped apart from the other piece. She gave him a sad smile and said, "Well, I guess this is goo- I mean Au revoir."
"You keep in touch okay? I expect a letter from you in a few days."
"Yea. I'll write," she promised as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
"Remember whenever you're feeling lonely cuddle up with that tiger and think of me."
"I definitely will. I love you." She turned away and started walking and then turned around. "I'll never forget you Nick no matter what," she promised and then before she could look back and run into his arms she continued walking.
When she and Meg boarded the plane. Melissa took the window seat and realized it was raining. How perfect she thought as she took out her Discman and put LFO in turning to I Don't Wanna Kiss You Goodnight and she cuddled up with the stuffed tiger and started to cry. She already missed Nick.
