Now on top of fighting with Nick over something stupid, Melissa had to think about making up with him, telling him about her sickness and trying to figure out just how far their relationship should go. She'd been sitting there for hours and so far had decided nothing.
She was laying on the bed thinking, when she heard a knock on the door. Uggh it was probably Meg coming back for something. She and AJ had been gone all day leaving Melissa to think.
"Come in," Melissa said not even bothering to find who it was.
She was shocked when she looked up and found Nick standing over her with a bouquet of roses.
"I'm really sorry about before. I acted like a total, complete jerk and it was all my fault because I had this huge fight with Erin and that's all I had on my mind and I just lost my head. Do you forgive me?" he asked with his eyes pleading.
"Yea I forgive you. Anyway who could resist that little puppy dog face," she said as she stood up and took the flowers, putting them on the dresser. Then she turned to face him and he kissed her softly.
She kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck. They kept on kissing as he pulled her tighter. Involuntarily they both started moving towards the bed unaware of what they were doing.
"I love you," he told her, the words flowing naturally from his mouth.
"I love you too," she answered back and she knew it was true. Words couldn't describe the way she felt inside.
Then he kissed her back so passionately, it nearly took her breath away. She found herself sinking back on the bed and felt Nick on top of her kissing her neck.
Should I tell him to stop or let him keep going Melissa wondered. She felt confused and realized that it was next to impossible to try to think clearly under the circumstances.
His hand was just slipped underneath her shirt when there was a loud knock at the door followed by Meg's voice, shouting," Mel are you awake? Can you please let me in? I forgot my key!"
Melissa quickly jumped off the bed and frantically began to straighten out her clothing. "I'll be right there!" she called as she ran to the door and opened it.
As Meg stepped inside and saw Nick who was now sitting on the couch she asked, " I'm not interrupting anything am I?"
"Oh no, of course not," Melissa said a little to quickly. "I was just about to go walk Nick back to his room."
"Oh Ok," Meg said not sounding too convinced.
"So what happened with you and AJ?"
Meg turned towards Nick and said, " You were never here and you don't know anything, got it? If I hear you told AJ a thing I swear to God I'll-"
"Nick won't tell AJ a thing," Melissa assured her. "So what happened? Did you tell him?"
"No, I chickened out. I was just about to but then I just got so scared that he wouldn't feel the same and I just decided to forget it."
"Don't just forget it. I think you should really tell him," Melissa advised.
"Well, maybe. I'll think about it."
"You definitely should. Well, I'll be back in a couple of minutes I just want to walk Nick back to his room."
"Okay. Have fun."
A few minutes later Melissa and Nick were walking towards his room hand in hand.
"I'm so glad we made up," she told him. "I really didn't want this to turn out to be the shortest romance in history."
"Me either," he admitted.
When they reached his door he bent down to kiss her and said "Goodnight Babydoll."
Melissa pulled back a little wrinkled her nose and laughed. "Babydoll?"
"Well, yea. See I can't call you babe cause that's what I used to call Erin."
"Hey whatever works," she said with a laugh but all of a sudden her laugh got a little softer and she found herself kissing him again. "I wish I never had to leave your side," she told him.
"Well, if you want you could spend the night."
"That's not what I meant and you know it," she said giving him a playful punch on his arm.
"Oww! I'm sorry. I was only joking."
"I knew that," she said with a laugh but then turned serious. "Do you really regret Meg coming back when she did?"
"I don't know. Do you?"
"In a way yes. I'm not sure that I was thinking to clearly before."
"Me too but I'll make you a promise."
"What?"
"That I won't bug you or try anything until you tell me your ready."
"Can you handle that?" she said teasing him.
"I don't know but I'm going to try."
"Did you really mean it when you told me you loved me?"
"Of course I did."
"Good. I was hoping it wasn't just one of in the heat of the moment things."
"No, it wasn't. It was the honest truth."
"Well, I better go now. Goodnight."
"Goodnight," he told her kissing her one last time before the night was over.
