~Ch. 4~

Melanie found it hard to face her parents, or so-called parents, she thought bitterly, the next day at breakfast. After crying over the dress she went backdownstairs and tried to sleep, but sleep wouldn't come. Melanie felt the tears roll down her face. Who was she? She felt this sense of calm overcome her body, then she began shaking out of fear and frustration, and once more the tears started. "Morning dear" her mom said as Melanie stumbled downstairs the next morning. Melanie looked at her "mom" as she turned around, and gasped, causeing her "father" to look up from his breakfast
"good God Melanie, you look like you were runover by a truck" he said, looking her over. Her mom peered at her
Melanie, are you ok?" Melanie looked at the two of them. Then she felt the tears which she was sure she had rid the night before, roll again. "Melanie!" her mom said, hurrying over and holding her, Melanie jerked from her. Her dad tried to put his arm around her to, but she jerked back, startling him.
"Melanie, what's wrong with you?" he asked. She looked at them
"just tell me the truth, who am I?" she sobbed. Julie Parker looked at her sobbing daughter, and looked at her husband. It was time for the truth.
