Meeting Him Wasn't So Bad Right?

Chapter Thirteen

There was only a week left before the dance and Tina and Liz had not yet gotten their dresses, shoes, accessories whatsoever.

"Hey Liz wanna go to the mall with me around noon? I have to look for a dress."

"Sure. I'll come. I have to look for one too."

"Great. I'll drop back here around 12:00 then."

"OK. I'll see you then."

"Bye."

Liz hunged up the phone and ran downstairs.

"Hey Mom!"

"What hun? I'm in the office."

"Can I have some money?"

"What for?"

"Me and Tina are going to the mall to look for a dress for the Valentine's Dance. But the thing is I'm broke so can I please have some money?"

"Sure. Here's my credit card. Buy what you like. The shoes, the dress, you name it you got it."

"OK thanks Mom. I love you!" Liz said giving her mom a big hug.

"I love you too. Well I hope you find what you like and good luck."

"Thanks Mom. I'll see you at dinner."

"OK hun. Bye."

"So Liz what kind of a dress were you looking for?"

"I don't know yet but I'm sure I'll find something that I like. Where do you want to look first?"

"UM... How about Unlimited? They have a lot of dresses there."

"Great. Let's go!"

After about an hour or so of looking Liz heard a scream.

"Oh my god Tina what?"

"I found the perfect dress for you"

"What about you?"

"I tried it on already. It looks better on you then it does on me."

"What makes you so sure?"

"Cause everything you wear looks better on you then it does on me. Now go and try it on."

"OK> I'll be out in a few." I said making way for the fitting room.

As I made my way through the crowd I looked over the dress. It was a long shimmering dress with slits up the sides. It had gold and silver sequins and glitter all over the dress. It was a beautiful dress. She already had her sandals to go with it. She went insdide the room and got changed a few minutes later she came out and saw Tina standing there.

"That dress looks great on you. Nick will be stunned. It's awesome. You have to get it!!"

"I dunno. I just want to look nice. After all it's just a dance. I don't want him to be drooling all over me."

"He will be. No matter what."

"Are you sure this looks good on me?" I asked looking into the mirror.

"Look at yourself. Do YOU like it? It doesn't matter what others think. All it matters is if you like it or not."

"Oh course I like it."

"Then get it."

"I will. Thanks Tina."

"Anytime. I'm gonna go look for a dress now. I'll see you in a few minutes."

"OK see ya."

One week later...

It was the night of the dance. Tina had came over to do Liz's hair and got ready herself. Tina found a dress earlier that week. On the day that they went they couldn't find one she liked. The girls took turns doing each other's hair, makeup and nails. They had started at 3 and was finished right when the guys came which was at 7:30 that night. They had wanted to look extra special for the guys. Tina on the other hand wanted to be the best looking there since she was going with a guy much older.

At 7:30 when the guys came the gurls were just finishing up.

"Tina, you done? The guys are here."

"Yea I'll be right down. Ok I'll see you downstairs then."

Liz left and walked downstairs. As she walked down the steps her mom took pictures.

"Mom, you know how I feel about pictures. Don't take anymore." I said smiling.

"Sorry hun, I can't help it. I wanna send momentos to your grandmother."

"Don't please." I said as we walked to the main room.

Nick was shocked when he saw me.

"Hey Nick."

"Hey Liz. You look great."

"Thanks you don't look so bad yourself."

"You ready to go?"

"Yea we just gotta wait for Tina."

Just as we mention her name she came running down the stairs.

"Who said my name?" She asked walking over to Brian.

"Hey Brian."

"Wow, You look gorgeous Tina."

"Thanks. Liz and I went looking everywhere for this dress. It took days to track it down. But we finally found it." She said as she did a little twirl showing off her dress.

"C'mon let's go."I said.

"Right. We don't wanna be late."

"Bye Mom. I'll see you later." I said as I gave her a hug and kiss goodbye.

"Bye sweetie. Have fun."

"I will."

AT THE DANCE.......

"I'm so excited." I whispered to Nick.

"I am too but mostly I feel lucky."

"Why?"

"Cause I'm going to the dance with the most beautiful girl ever."

I smiled and gave him a kiss. "You're so sweet."

"Brian and Tina were in the front seats whispering to each other about something. After a 10 minute drive they finally arrived at the dance.

"Oh My God, It's so pretty!" shouted Tina.

"You guys did a nice job Liz," Brian commented.

"Thanks Bri."

When we got into the gym all eyes were on us. Tina and I were there with the guys everyone had wanted to go out with. 'We are so lucky' I thought.

"C'mon let's go dance."

As we made our way to the dance floor, a slow song came on.

"This is one of my favorite songs. It's so beautiful."

"Just like you."

I smiled and rested my head on his shoulders as we swayed to the music. After a couple of songs Nick pulled me outside.

"Nick what are we doing out here?"

"I wanted to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"Well ever since we've been going out, I've felt so happy being with you. I feel more comfortable being around you but mostly I feel happy."

"I love being around you too. You're a very sweet, sensitive, kind, and a wonderful person. Nothing can keep us a part now. I hope we have a bright and a happy future together,"

"I do too Liz. I do too."

"I love you Nick."

"I love you too Liz."

So it turns out that Nick and I had gotten along great. At times I felt lost and far away from Nick. Without him there is no me. I'm finally happy with who I am for who I am. Nick made me finally realize that. He's been great help ever since he moved here. I hope that things work out between us. Through all the good or the bad times I know we'll always be there for each other. In the end, I guess meeting him wasn't so bad now was it?
