Chapter 36
Kevin and Brian had been up since 11:15. So far they were the only ones up. Everyone had just
stayed the night at Kevins. “So, how hard did everyone party after I crashed?” Kevin asked as he
poured himself and Brian a cup of coffee.
“AJ surprisingly didn’t party that hard. After Christin and Lilia left AJ was really distant. Like he
had something on his mind.” Brain replied.
“Well, what about Nick and D?”
“I dunno, it was like the party died after Christin left. We probably won’t see her for awhile.”
“I doubt that.”
“Why?”
“Cause, isn’t that her getting out of that car?” Kevin pointed out the window.
“Yeah. Why is she here?”
“Probably here to get her stuff she left.”
“Oh, yeah. Well, you better get the door so she doesn’t wake the others up.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Kevin jogged to the door and opened it just as Christin was about to press
the doorbell. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
“And why not?” Christin asked.
“Well, unless you wanna wake up three hungover guys, go ahead and push it.”
“You’re right. Kev, can I come in?”
“Oh yeah, sure come in. Sorry.” Kevin stepped aside and let Christin in.
Christin walked into the house and spoke softly. “I won’t be long. Amanda’s waiting in the car. I
just need to grab some of my stuff. Can I leave the rest here?”
“I don’t think you’ll wake them up by talking.” Kevin laughed.
“I know, but if I talk too loud my head hurts.” Christin headed up the stairs. Kevin followed her.
“What all do you need?” Christin grabbed her purse. She found her cell and checked her missed
calls, and did the same with the pager.
“Boyfriend call?” Kevin asked with a smile.
“I wish.” Christin started getting some clothes together.
“You got a boyfriend?” Kevin was shocked.
“I wish. I’m too busy with work to have a boyfriend that can actually be my boyfriend.”
“Good, cause if you had a boyfriend, where would that leave AJ?”
“Same place he is right now. Nowhere.”
“Oh, that was cold!”
“Yeah. Whatever.” Christin zipped up her bag and grabbed her purse. “All finished.” She started
out of the room. Kevin followed. Christin got to the door and opened it. “Thanks Kevin.” She got
on her tip-toes and kissed him on the cheek.
“For what?” Kevin asked.
“For just being a friend.” Christin rang the doorbell and started for the car. She shouted “Tell
them to get their lazy asses up!” She then got into the car.
AJ came down the stairs to see Kevin shutting the door. “Who was at the door?”
“Someone who said you needed to get your lazy asses up.”
