Chapter 17
When A.J. and Lilia finished um-having fun, A.J. felt all the guiltier. He quickly got dressed. When he finished he looked down at his watch. 5:22. Damn. The other guys were going to be pissed. He told Lilia to get dressed. He had another rehearsal.
He found the guys back in there dressing room with a reporter. The guys were all talking and laughing as fake as possible.
Howie saw A.J. and yelled over to him. “A.J. come over here.”
A.J. walked over to them. “What’s up?”
“A.J., this is Brenda. She’s a reporter for a local paper. Sit. Talk. Answer questions.” Nick said in a fake voice.
“Okay. But don’t we have to rehearse. That’s why I came and found you.”
Kevin looked at his watch. A.J. was right. Good. Now he could get away from Brenda’s questions. They had all been answering questions for about an hour and a half. Ever since A.J. disappeared with Lilia. Hoe. He didn’t like what she was doing. She was just using A.J. for money and fame.
“Yeah. It’s time to rehearse.” Brian answered.
“Yeah.” Kevin agreed. They all got up and said goodbye to Brenda.
The quick run though rehearsal went fine. Aaron Carter, Nick’s little brother, was opening for them that night.
Everyone was back stage when A.J. got the courage to end it with Lilia. Lilia was a user. Kevin had finally made him see that with all the little comments he had made that day. He just figured that would be the excuse he used. He couldn’t tell everyone he was breaking up with her for Christin. Could he?
When Aaron went on the boys took their places. The show went great. Aaron did great and so did the other guys.
After they got on the bus to go to the airport, A.J. found Lilia lying in his bunk.
“Lilia we gotta talk. Let’s go to the back room.”
Lilia got up and quickly followed A.J. sensing something important was on A.J. mind. His eyes looked like he was going to make her the happiest woman in the world or the maddest. She doubted she would be mad though. Not after today.
When they entered the room, A.J. shut the door.
“What’s up A.J.?” Lilia asked getting excited. She thought he would give her something.
“Lilia we have been going together for two months. I know it’s not long but…” A.J. stopped.
“Yeah?”
“Lilia in that time I’ve realized what kind of person you are. What I’m trying to say is that…it’s over.” A.J. remarked rapidly.
“WHAT??” Lilia yelled. “How can it be fucken over? I thought you fucken loved me. You’re just a lying bastard.”
“I never, get this, NEVER said I loved you. I don’t even fucken like you anymore.”
“Then what about TODAY? Huh? Was that for kicks? To have something to remember, maybe? Well fuck you. You are a lying piece of shit. You thought I was just another bitch, huh?”
“NO. At one point I liked you. It’s just all we ever do anymore is fight when we’re not together and have sex while we are together. You knew that eventually it would end. Well I don’t want to wait for eventually. I want it over now. And about today, I was going to end that but I got caught up in the moment that you started.”
“Can I ask you something?” Lilia was falsely crying now.
“Sure. I think I owe you that much.”
“Why? Is it me, you, someone else? Is that it? You’re seeing someone else.”
“Straight answer. It’s you and me.” And Christin, he added in his own mind.
“You AND ME. What did I do wrong? Is love wrong? Because if it is, I guess I’m wrong.” Good touch Lilia. He won’t be able to break up now. Keep it up. Keep laying on the guilt. He’ll be begging for forgiveness.
“Lilia, you don’t think I see though you. The only reason you are with me is because I’m a Backstreet Boy."
“Shit, Shit, Shit.” Lilia thought. “Damn I didn’t think he would ever realize it.”
“Speechless. Maybe because it’s true. You’ve always known me as a Backstreet Boy. You dated a Backstreet Boy. Now you’re breaking up with a Backstreet Boy.”
Just then the bus stopped.
“A.J. I’ll give you sometime to think about it. When I get in the airport, I’m going to go back to New York. I’ll call you after I think you have had enough time to think.” Lilia got up and walked over to the door. “An really think about it babe. You won't know what you had until it's gone.” Lilia opened the door and Brian, Nick, Howie, and Kevin tumbled into the room.
“Hey Lilia, we’re at the airport thought you’d want to know.” Brian tried to play it off.
“It takes four people to tell me. Whatever.” She walked over them, went to A.J.’s bunk and got her stuff. After that she exited the bus, not even caring about the fans.
“Damn, A.J. you alright?” Howie asked A.J. as he walked pass the guys to his bunk.
“Yeah man. Why wouldn’t I be? Thanks Kevin.”
“For what? I didn’t do anything.” Kevin didn’t know what the heck A.J. was talking about.
“For making me realize what a bitch and user she was.” A.J. explained as he grabbed his stuff and started off the bus. “You guys coming or what?”
“Yeah man be right there.” Howie remarked. They all gathered their stuff and stepped off the bus into screaming fans. It didn’t take them long to get airport cause security had already roped it off.
Thirty minutes later they were all on a plane back to Orlando while Lilia was heading back to New York coming up with a plan to get A.J. back, especially his money.
