"What do you think they’re doing right now?" Roxy asked softly as she lay her head on Justin’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.

"What we should be doing right now," he responded with a coy smile and a short laugh, his eyes lighting for a second before he pulled the sheets over their bodies.

"Rox," he asked after a moment of silence, turning to look at her, his hands entangled in her soft brown curls. "What are we doing?" he whispered, his voice so soft and almost scared.

"What?" she asked, a frown slowly forming on her fair features. "What are you talking about, Justin?"

"I mean where is this going?" he asked. He watched as she turned over to face him, her face completely puzzled, her eyes holding a sense of shock.

"Where’s what going?" she asked, not fully understanding what he meant. She wrapped an arm around his neck, nuzzling the sensitive skin but he pulled away, those eyes of his so dark and serious.

"This, us, whatever this we share is called. Where the hell are we going? I want to know," his voice was stern but even, so serious, a side she had rarely seen of him.

"I don’t know," she whispered after a second, kissing his lips softly, "This has all been so new…" she said, closing her eyes for a moment, before running her hands over her face.

"Am I just a fling?" he asked softly, closing his eyes. He didn’t want to be one of those guys, that she saw as disposable, who was in one day and out the next. His feelings for her seemed to gradually get stronger, intensifying with each day he spent with her, her laugh, her smile, melting his heart.

"No," she shook her head, her eyes opening, "God, no," she whispered. "I just haven’t been in a relationship for so long," she whispered, "and this has happened so fast, and I, I just don’t want to end up hurt."

He nodded at her response, a satisfactory smile spreading over his features and wrapped his arms around her thin frame, dotting a few kisses down her jaw line. "I won’t hurt you, I promise."

Jess sat the edge of JC’s bed, staring straight into the wall, her eyes boring two holes into it. She turned to face JC, who was laying in the bed, watching her, his chiseled bare chest rising and falling evenly.

"Are you going to get in bed?" he asked softly, his voice startling her. She tensed before turning to face him, nodding as she shook herself from her daze, and smiled meekly.

"Uh, yeah," she answered, turning down the navy blue sheets of his bed and running her hand over the pillow.

"Jess," he whispered softly, his eyes looking deep into hers, those gorgeous pools of blue piercing through her, something in them so broken that she couldn’t help but shudder. "I don’t want it to be like this…" he said as she slid between the sheets, her body completely tense as his hand reached out and touched her shoulder.

"I don’t want to look at you and have you be scared of me. Or have you hate me," he said, shaking his head. "I just want things to be like they used to. When were we’re friends and you slept over and we talked," he sighed deeply before turning onto his side to face her. "I just want to be able to be your friend Jess, I’m not asking more. Just friendship."

"JC," she said as she shook her head, tears already starting for form. She knew she shouldn’t have taken this dare, her stupid pride getting the best of her as usual. It was too soon, too soon to be sleeping in his bed, inches away from his arms, his soulful blue eyes tearing into her every time he looked at her.

"I’ll try JC. I really will. It’s just so soon and I…I just…God JC," she whispered, "I just…" she stopped, closing her eyes.

He leaned into her slowly, careful not to frighten her in her already delicate state, "Say no more," he whispered, kissing her forehead. "You’re worth the wait."
