“Hey Lana,
“I guess I have to try to explain what I meant on the phone now. Maybe, actually, I should start out by telling you what happened after we go off the phone. AJ came over and we got into an argument. We do that a lot. He got another tattoo and I simply told him that he wasn’t being a good role model for all the little kids. He said he didn’t want to stay with anybody who didn’t appreciate him, so he left. I tried calling him on his cell phone, but he wouldn’t answer. I called his house and left a message and said I was sorry so I hope he’ll forgive me soon.
“I still love him so much, it’s just something’s not right. Our relationship had changed. It’s like we can’t have fun anymore and I don’t know what to do. I can’t keep on like this. Something has to change. Can you think of anything – anything at all that I can do to save this? I don’t want my five years going down the drain, but it’s – I don’t know what to do!
“I guess I’ll talk to you later.
“Liz”
I click send and get off the Internet. I don’t know what to do. There is nothing to do. I want to talk to AJ, but he’s probably still mad about yesterday. I could always call him and see. I walk over and pick up the phone, hesitate, but then dial his number.
Ring…. ring…. ring…
“Hello?” He asks.
“Hey, AJ,” I say sort of cheerfully.
“What?” He asks.
“I just wanted to apologize for making you mad.”
“I’m sorry too, I over reacted. I shouldn’t have done that.”
“Alright. Do you wanna get together sometime?”
“Sure. To do what?” We could go to a movie or something.”
“How about some thing a little more… active… fun.”
“What do you mean?’
“I don’t know. When do you want to go?”
“Tomorrow.”
“I have class tomorrow night.”
“So. Skip it and come with me.”
“I can’t do that!”
“Is your class more important than your boyfriend?”
“I have to take this class AJ. We can do something the next night.”
“Well, alright. I’ll see you then.”
“Okay. Bye.”
“Bye.”
I sigh and go to the computer to go back and look at something for class. I get on and discover Lana has e-mailed me back.
“Elizabeth,
“If you think you need to have more fun together, then do something fun for Heavens sake! Isn’t there something fun you can do? Don’t just watch movies, so something where you can stay in touch and talk to him. Tell him what you feel. If he really is getting all mad like that all the time, maybe you’d be better off without him. I know you don’t think you would, but honestly Liz, is he worth all the trouble he is?
“Think of it this way. Could you marry him? You shouldn’t be dating someone you know you couldn’t get married to.”
“Good luck!
“Lana”
Fine. A lot of help she is!
