More Then That

A week or two passed by quickly as things stayed great for me and Nick. The argument really seemed to bring us close together.

School kept bugging me with due dates, projects test and annoying people. I wanted to scream and run away with Nick on tour. Yet I knew that wouldn’t help me in the long run. But it was a possibility, and I knew Nick wouldn’t object. He would actually rejoice. He had grown to hate school even more although he was through. He claimed it kept us apart too much. I had to agree.

“So, Aaron is going that Disney special this weekend. You’re still coming right?” Nick questioned Thursday night on the phone.

“Yeah, I’ll be there by lunchtime tomorrow. I’m skipping school, so feel loved.” I teased.

“Trust me, I do!” Nick laughed. “Are you packing right now?”

“Yeah.”

“Fun. I think that’s what I hate the most about getting ready for tour. I always forget something.”

I laughed at his complaints. “Poor Nicky.”

“Once we’re married, I won’t have to worry about it. You can do it….”

“Woah! Hold on! I’m not gonna become some house wife while you’re off in Europe having grand adventures.” I stated before he could get a lot of crazy notions in his brain.

“But Anne!”

“No, buts! I won’t listen! Now I need to go to bed. I’ll meet you at your house tomorrow.”

“You don’t want me to pick you up at he airport?”

“Nope! I want to rent a car.”

“But….”

“I told you, I won’t listen. Now goodnight.”

“Night baby.”

We hung up the phone. I stared around my room, realizing that I would be leaving it for good very soon. It really did amaze me.

“Anne! You made it!” Aaron called greeting me at Nick’s door.

“Hey Aaron! I haven’t seen you since Christmas. How are you?”

“I’m great! I’m so glad you made it!” he exclaimed throwing his arms around my neck.

“Well, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. You have to remember, I’m practically your sister.”

“Now that is weird! I’m so used to you being Nick’s girlfriend.”

I smiled down at Nick’s younger brother. “Get used to it bro.” I teased elbowing him.

“Does this mean we get to wrestle around?”

“Watch out! Boyfriend coming through!” Nick called running out to me. All in one motion he picked me up and started to spin around. Silently Aaron left without either of us noticing.

“Hey, Nick. I’m so happy to see you. Although it wasn’t that long ago.

“Two weeks is plenty long enough. Now come here.” He growled. Slowly our lips met and he hungrily searched for more. I felt his excitement growing and slowly pulled away to rest in his arms. “What was that for?”

“Now isn’t the time.” I mumbled. I melted in his arms as I felt him run his fingers through my hair. I don’t know why, but the smaller displays of affection made me melt more, than the passionate ones. “When do we leave to do Aaron’s concert?”

“The concert is tonight and all the extra stuff is all day tomorrow. I warn you, I do a lot of stuff with him. They insisted on having me around.”

“Are you singing anything with him?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know.”

“Anyways, let’s go inside and catch up on everything.” I suggested as we walking towards the house holding each other’s hand.

The chilly February air bit at Nick and me while we stood watching Samantha Mumba. I had slapped Nick hard across the arm for being a brown nosier with her.

I snuggled even close to Nick as Aaron came on stage. I head Nick yell encouragement to his brother. We were out in the audience just over to the side, still protected by security. Nick’s arms tightened around my waist, as we got ready to enjoy the concert. Without realizing it my hands went to covert Nick’s and held on tight. To me, nothing could top the feeling of him holding me in his arms. I felt him nuzzle his nose against my neck a he softly kissed my jawbone.

Nothing more happened as we continued to watch. Life sure did amaze me at times. I went from being a dreaming fan to soon to be married, with Nick Carter as my husband. The whole idea scared me yet filled me with so much joy. Not just because I made a pop star mine, but because I was going to spend the rest of my life with him. I didn’t know how I could do anything without knowing he was there.

At least I thought that, but I knew that God could pull me through anything. But there was no need for his extra help at the moment. His blessings had been on mine and Nick’s relationship. He said he would if everything between us was centered around him.

“Aaron! That was awesome!” I yelled as he ran over to me and Nick.

“Wasn’t too bad little bro. But you still haven’t out done me with your concert skills.” Nick teased.

“Nickolas!” I gasped.

“What?”

“Don’t be so mean! Personally, I think his concert is so much better than yours. It always has been.” I laughed waiting to see reaction.

Nick didn’t move for a minute then he picked me up and slung me across his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“No, Nick! Let me down!” I squealed pounding my fists on his back..

“Not until you change your mind!”

“Why should I? It’s the truth!”

“Then you’re staying right here for a while.”

“But….Nick!”

“Member I don’t listen to your ‘whining buts’.” Nick smiled copying what I had told him the day before.

“Fine! You win.” I sighed. Slowly he turned to face me. “I knew you’d see it my way.” I just laughed at how childish he was acting.

“So Aaron….who is this candy girl? Is she really as hot as you say she is?” I asked dropping my arm across his shoulder.

“Anne!” He exclaimed. “That is none of your business!”

“Oh, come on! I’m your sister, everything is my…….Hi BJ.” I stammered loosing all my hyperness. No one had ever had the effect on me like BJ did.

“I see you’re still around. I’m surprised will all the other girls Nick has around.” She sneered. Nick’s jaw literally dropped at his younger sisters lie.

“Really now?” I asked trying to hide my tears.

“Yeah.”

I turned slowly to leave, not wanting to deal with anymore.

“I can’t believe you!” Nick shouted grabbing his sister tight by the arms. “Why do you hate her so much? What did she do to you?”

“Hush! You’re drawing attention.” BJ whispered.

“I really don’t care! First you ruin her Christmas, steal her engagement ring and now this? Do you think you could be any crueler?”

“I could try.”

“That’s beside the point. Lay off Anne! She did absolutely nothing to you! IF you do one more thing, I will be telling mom and dad everything. If you really care about your modeling job, I’d be real careful!” Nick finished as let go of her arms.

BJ rubbed her arms to take away the sting. Nick really had hurt her. Her eyes softened as she watched him walk away to catch up with Anne. “Nick’s right.” She sighed. “but why did she have to comer into my life and be so perfect?!”

***

“We’re finally here!” Nick sighed wrapping his arms around my waist. We were at the entrance of Disney world, waiting for our assignment. Well, actually Aaron’s assignment.

“Oh, Nicky! Look!” I cried running over to one of the store windows.

“That’s great.” He mumbled following me. I felt as he wrapped his arms around me again. I stayed in his arms for another minute or so.

“Nick! Look at this!” I yelled again running towards a ride that had started up.

“That’s great Anne.” He yelled getting aggravated by my spastic running. AS he was walking over towards me, Aaron grabbed hid arm.

“Is she being difficult?” Aaron asked as if he knew everything in the world. “Watch a pro.”

Nick stood back, getting ready to laugh. He didn’t get his chance to laugh! His eyes nearly bugged out when he saw Aaron holding me in his arms.

“Anne! What are you doing?” He screamed walking over to me.

“I’m being held by my boyfriend! What does it look like?” I inquired playing innocent.

“Anne, come here!” Nick demanded. I really wanted to, but I really felt like giving him a hard time. The hard time won.

“I forgot to tell you, me and Aaron got together. Sorry.” I informed watching his face change from aggravation to pure annoyance.

“We did?” Aaron questioned shocked.

“Yeah silly! Remember last night on the phone?” I continued.

“But we didn’t…..”

I elbowed him sharply in the ribs, signaling him to play along. He got the picture then.

“Oh yeah! Sorry Nick. She is a real good kisser.”

“Why thank you!” I pretended to blush.

“Any time baby.”

“Puh-leez you guys! This is getting old.” Nick whined reaching out to grab my hand. But I grabbed Aaron’s. We started to follow the camera crew as they led us to our first stop.

“Don’t worry, Nick.” A fan who had been watching the whole thing said. “I’ll talk her place so you won’t feel lonely.” Nick groaned inwardly as he sped up to the group.

***

Through the afternoon, Aaron and I kept the whole charade up. Nick really didn’t appreciate it.

I watched as the brothers filmed everything from riding roller coasters to throwing a football. They also played basketball, which Nick claims he’s better than Aaron. He also threatened that if I didn’t start acting right he’d force me to play. Like he was serious or could even get me on the court!

Soon Nick was done and the rest of the family left to finish Aaron’s recording with Leslie. I was so glad I didn’t have to dodge the camera anymore.

“So, what are we doing the rest of the day?” I wondered snuggling up against Nick. He didn’t wrap his arms around me.

“Don’t think you can get out of it now!” he smiled. “I told you, you have to play basketball!”

“But, Nick!” I whined pulling away.

“I’m not listening!”

“Ugh!” I screamed. I didn’t mind watching, but playing was out of the question! Last time I tried, I hurt someone else! I felt so awful! “I’m not moving!” I stubbornly announced.

“Oh, yes you are!” Nick firmly wrapped his arms around me. Before I knew it, he had me over his shoulders. Now I was completely helpless.

“Fine! You win, again!”

“Thank you!” Nick smirked as he set me down on the court. “Now, lets’ play some ball!” Nick suddenly threw the ball at me, knocking the wind out of me.

“Thanks.” I croaked. I didn’t notice the whole world zoom out. It was me and Nick. No one else mattered.

Slowly I dribbled the basketball towards the goal. Nick jumped in front of me, blocking my way. “Move it, buddy!”

“No!” Nick laughed back. I stopped dribbling and just ran around him. “Hey, that’s walking!”

“I’m not walking, I’m running.”

“You know what I mean.” I just laughed as I shot. The ball bounced off the backboard right at Nick. “No!” He smiled as he put up a pretty lay-up. I still didn’t understand how guys found this so fun. Yeah, let’s get a ball in a hoop with a net. Great fun! I rolled my eyes as I made my body move to continue playing. Time passed as the game neared an end. “No, Nick! You win if you make this shot!” I screamed. “So do you!” he replied. It had actually been a close game. I yanked the ball out of his grasp. His arms wrapped round my waist to hinder my shot.

“No fair!”

“What?” Nick questioned.

“Lemme go!” I squealed trying to peel him off of me, while still keeping possession of the ball.

“Eww! You’re all sweaty.” Nick whined when he felt my arms.

“That’s what you get.” I tried throwing the ball up. It fell drastically short. Nick shot around in front of me, capturing the ball. I grabbed his hand, to repay him for my last shot.

“No, Anne! Let me get this last shot and we’re done.”

“But, I don’t wanna be done. I’m actually having fun.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.” I smiled sweetly. Before he realized it, I stole the ball and scored my winning basket.

“No! I can’t believe it! I just lost to a girl!” Nick cried falling down to his knees.

“Oh, come on! It’s really not that bad! At least it was to your girlfriend. Your limited amount of basketball will be kept a secret.” That comment made Nick quickly jump to his feet.

“What did you just say?”

“I said you don’t have any skills.” I repeated nonchalantly.

“And you do?”

“Obviously, if I beat you!”

“You’re so asking for it!”

“Really? Could you help me slam dunk the ball?” I asked.

“No!”

“Please!” I begged kissing him lightly. “I need my tall strong fiancée to help me with this.”

He gave in quickly with my flattery. “I guess I can help you.” He shrugged coming over to me. He slipped his hands on my waist, gently raising me up high enough. I dropped the ball into the net, feeling like a five-year-old girl.

“Thanks Nicky.” I whispered as he set me down. “Sorry you didn’t like this afternoon. It was supposed to be a joke.”

“It’s okay. I guess it’s just because we hardly spend anytime together, I just wanted to enjoy what we do have.”

“Sorry,” I apologized again as I snuggled closer to him as his arms held me securely.

***

BJ watched the whole scene as thoughts raced through her mind. “Should I give Anne another chance? She really does love Nick. Nick loves her so much. I guess if not for her, I should at least do it for Nick.” She finalized. But she stayed away to let them finish their private moment. They hardly ever got any of them.

Soon the rest of the family joined BJ watching the couple in the distance.

“What do you think?” Mr. Carter asked the rest of his family. “Is she a keeper?”

“I don’t think we have much of a choice. Nick wouldn’t let us have it any other way.” Mrs. Carter smiled thinking of her son’s happiness.

***

“So what are our plans for tonight and tomorrow?” Nick asked pulling me in his arms as he closed his apartment door behind us.

“Tomorrow, me and BJ are going shopping. Hopefully things will be completely patched up by the end of the day.”

“What made her change her mind so suddenly?”

“I dunno. So…..it was just nice!” I laughed placing my hands on Nick’s shoulders.
