Falling Out Of Love
Faith: Chapter 8

The dance had been amazing. Brian had been amazing. No one else she had ever known in her entire life had such a talent to make her feel so special... like she was the only thing that mattered. That was all she could think of as the limo pulled up in front of her house.

She turned to Brian, "I love you." She kissed him softly on the lips, then quickly got out and shut the door before he got a chance to respond. This night was perfect, at least, that's what she thought.

Faith watched as the limo drove off, then turned to go inside, and was surprised to find someone standing behind her.

"Devon," Faith said surprised.

"Faith," he said, looking her over, "You look good."

"Thanks... So what brings you here?"

"You," he said, looking her in the eye.

"That's sweet," she said, "But I -"

"Aw come on, you're not gettin' soft on me are ya?" he wrapped his arms around her, "I'm only here for tonight... I wanna be with you, Faith."

Without giving her a chance to protest, Devon grabbed her arm and pulled her toward his car, "C'mon, I know of a kickin' party we can go to!"

...

Faith got home at seven in the morning. Her mother was sitting in the kitchen when she got back, but she managed to creep by unnoticed. Changing into her pajamas, Faith came back downstairs.

"Hey mom," she said, "Sorry I'm late for breakfast. I slept in."

"Really?" Emily said, "I didn't even hear you come in last night."

"Oh, well I got back around one, and I was really tired."

"Oh," Emily said.

"Where's breakfast?" Faith asked.

"In the fridge," Emily said, standing up, "I have to go to work early today, so you'll have to make your own breakfast."

"Oh," Faith said as her mother walked out of the room, "You could've woken me up early.
"
"You could've been home," her mother said, walking out the door.

Faith looked down, "sorry," she whispered to herself. She knew she had let her mom down, and this time she hadn't been so forgiving.

"Never again," she said to herself, "I wonder how many times I said that and she actually believed it." She started crying. She had never meant to hurt her mother. Her mother was the only person who had stayed by her side, during and after all the drugs, alcohol, and sex. Her mother had always been there for her, only now, she wasn't.

Faith had let her down one too many times, and now she couldn't take it back. She decided she wasn't feeling well, and went back upstairs to her room. She was going to sleep, but couldn't. She kept having dreams... about her mother... about Brian... and about Devon.

She didn't know how she was going to tell Brian what she had done the night before. She loved him so much, and didn't want to hurt him, but she didn't see how she could avoid it. Unless, of course, she didn't tell him...
