"Hey Kim."
"Oh, hey Brian, what's up?"
"Uh, I was curious... were you at the party last night?"
"Yeah... oh no, is this about Faith?" Kim didn't want to talk about her
because she was afraid of how Brian would take it.
"Yeah, why?"
"I..." Kim didn't know what to say, "Look Brian, I know we're not best
friends, but you're MY best friend, and I would never purposely say anything
to hurt you, ok?"
"Is it that bad?" he asked.
"No... well, yes, sort of. She..."
"She what?" Faith asked walking up.
"Um, nothing," Kim said, startled, "We were talking about Kathy..."
"Oh, so?"
"Nothing, I have to go," Kim said.
"So what's up?" Faith asked after Kim had left.
"Nothing, how ya been?"
"Ya know, same old, same old... so what were you guys really talking about?"
"We told you, Kathy."
"Whatever... c'mon, you can tell me."
"The party last night."
"Did she say anything?" Faith suddenly became angry.
"No, but I'd like to know what happened... if you'll tell me."
Faith's eyes softened, "Nothing, I just had a little bit to drink and got
kinda crazy." With that she walked off to class.
Brian went to his locker to get his history book, and saw a note that hadn't
been there earlier:
She got drunk and was making out with some guy.
It didn't say who it was from or who it was about, but Brian knew.
