Faith: Chapter 3
By Jessica v.N.

Faith crept into the house, hoping to remain unnoticed. No such luck.
"Faith," she spun around to see her mom waiting for her at the kitchen
table, "Where have you been all night? It's almost three in the morning."
"Uh," she thought up a quick lie, "I was over at Brian's."
Emily sighed, "Try again. Brian called hours ago, looking for you."
"Well, I... ran into an old friend," she decided to tell the truth, "And we
kinda lost track of time."
Emily suddenly became worried, "Devon?"
"No," Faith said quickly, "No... I told you mom, I swear, it's over between
me and him... there never was a me and him. It was Amy."
"Amy Erving?" her mother still looked worried.
"Yes, I'm sorry, ok? I won't let it happen again," without giving her mom a
chance to reply, Faith gave her a hug, then headed upstairs. Looking at the
unpacked boxes in her room, something caught her eye. A diary.
Picking it up, she ran her fingers around the outline of the unicorn on the
cover. She hadn't written in it for years. She hadn't even seen it in years.
Opening it, she picked up a pen and started to write.
****The Next Day****
Faith had bags under her eyes and it was obvious she hadn't slept at all the
night before. Brian didn't seem to notice though, he was still his same
cheerful, light hearted self, "So, where were you last night?"
"I was..." Faith decided not to lie, "I went to a party, with Amy."
"Have fun?"
"Yeah, the first part of the night..." Faith sighed.
"What happened?"
"I'd rather not talk about it," looking for an excuse to leave she said,
"I'm going to be late to science, see ya," then took off.
Brian stopped next to Sarah and Katherine, who had been watching the whole
time, "Was it something I said?"
"No," Katherine said, "I don't think so... I think it was something she
did."
"What do you mean, 'something she did'?"
"You know," Sarah said, "At the party last night?"
"Think it was bad?"
"I dunno," Sarah said, "Didn't you say that she told you she used to hang
out with the wrong crowd? Well if this Amy girl is an 'old friend'... well,
you know where I'm heading."
"No," Brian shook his head, "Faith wouldn't do something like that. I know
her."
"Are you so sure?" Sarah asked.
"Look," Katherine said, "Why don't you find Kim and ask her? Kim never
misses a party."
"I think I'll do that," Brian wondered off into the halls in search of Kim.
