"He said that he didn't regret it and that he thought that I was beautiful
and smart,
and..."
"Jennifer, Nick's just broken up with Mandy and I think that he's just
looking for
comfort anywhere he can get it, and it just happened to be you, I think that
kiss was
really meant for Mandy. Even though she treated him bad I think she was
another
person when she was alone with him and that's why he loves her so much."
"Oh, that poor thing! That's why he got so sad when I mentioned Mandy.... I
have to
go and talk to him..."
"I'm sorry Jenn...are you still coming to lunch?"
"Yeah why wouldn't I?" Jennifer was a big question mark.
"I just thought that you would be mad at me saying that Nick didn't like
you..."
Kevin's face showed that he was worrying about what he had said before.
"No Kevin I ain't mad at you for telling the truth, that's one of the most
important
things in life...and you know what? What would we be if we couldn't say the
real
truth to each other? We certainly wouldn't be real friends, just some kind
of pretend
friends that can't trust each other if you know what I mean?" Kevin started
thinking
about what Jennifer had said. Then he spoke up after a few minutes...
"Thank you, you're right."
"I'm going to see Nick now."
"Ok I'll see you at dinner"
"Bye Kevin"
Jennifer walked down the corridor and when passed a corner she heard a
familiar
voice. It was Jim, he was talking on the phone with the door wide open. She
could
hear him saying something about eating dinner with Jennifer tonight and that
he
could come and see the person on the other side of the line tomorrow. After
saying
something Jennifer couldn't hear, but she thought it was some kind of
meeting place
they were talking about. When he had said bye he hung up the phone she
knocked
on the door.
"Hey Jim."
"Oh hi Jenni, what are you doing here?"
"I was just going to ask you the same aren't you supposed to be working?"
"Yeah, but I forgot my spear gloves so I came back to get them."
"Oh, are we still on for dinner tonight?"
"Yeah sure."
"Um, there's something I have to tell you. We ain't the only ones.. I've
kinda double
booked me and I thought that we all could go to dinner together?"
"Yeah maybe...is it someone I know?"
"No, I don't think so and I don't know them that well either...." Jennifer
looked at Jim
to see his reaction.
"You're going out to dinner with a bunch of people that you don't know? I
don't know
about this." He gave her a questioning gaze.
"Well I don't know them in person but I love their music and they seem to be
nice
people."
"Who are these people we're talking about?"
"Um, have you ever heard of the Backstreet Boys?"
Yeah.. They're good if you like that type of music..."
"Well Nick, the blond guy in the group, has asked me to dinner with him and
the other
guys...but I've asked him and it's Ok for you to come along."
"I'm not sure maybe I should just...." he didn't get any further before
Jennifer cut in.
"Please, pretty please, I really wanna see you and you're leaving tomorrow,
right?"
"Ok but only because you shouldn't go out with five guys you don't know,
just 'cause
they're famous. I forgot to tell you, I'm staying three more days. "
"Oh.. Why?"
"Well one guy couldn't come until three days from now so I got to take his
place."
"K, about tonight then, can you come to my room and then we can go together
to
the restaurant?"
"Yeah sure, what's your room-number?"
Jennifer gave him his number and said goodbye. 'Wonder what's with him? And
who
was he talking to on the phone?' Her brain was working hard. Then she
remembered
where she was going and started thinking about Nick.
