"Oh well.. I'll leave the radio playing for a little while longer."
She got up and started making her bed, singing along with the boys. She had
forgotten all about her morning mood by now. There weren't any better way to
wake up than to the voices of these five guys. And she had just remembered
why she had to get up, and nothing was going to spoil her day. She got
dressed, made sure everything was packed and then headed downstairs.
Just before she left her room she took a glimpse in the mirror. She stopped
and turned back to her desk.
"I'll might need these." she said to herself as she picked up her
sunglasses.
Once again she headed for the door, but stopped again.
"The radio!!"
She walked over to the radio she had left on.
"That was Ricky Martin and earlier you heard the Backstreet Boys… I sure
hope you've got a ticket to one of their shows. They're gonna be huge!! If
you don't have one, stay with us and…"
"I sure do!!" Jasmine said as she turned off the radio.
"You're done already?!" her mum said surprised when Jasmine stepped in to
the kitchen. "You were up so late last night I was kinda expecting that I
had to come and drag you out of the bed, so you wouldn't miss the flight."
she continued with a smirk.
Jasmine just smiled back.
"Well at first I didn't wanna get up, but then I remembered my trip and
changed my attitude."
She sat down by the kitchen table with her breakfast.
Her mother's smile disappeared and her face got a concerned look.
"What?!" Jasmine asked.
"Does it hurt, honey?" her mother asked referring to the bruise her daughter
had on her face.
"No… not much… don't worry about it, it looks worse than it is… besides, I'm
too excited to even notice it."
"It looks bad though…"
"That's why I brought these." Jasmine held up her sunglasses. "Then I don't
have to put up with all the looks people give"
"And you're sure you're alright?"
Jasmine sighed.
"Yeah mum, I'm sure… I promise." and she gave her mum a convincing kiss on
the cheek. "Come on! Let's go to the airport now."
Her mother just laughed.
"We can't go there yet! It's too early, you'll have to wait there for ages!"
"Well… let's go anyway. We can stop by a store and by me some candy and a
magazine. And then we can go to the airport café and talk, instead of
sitting here. I'm too excited to just sit here and wait!!"
Her mother smiled and followed her daughter out to the hallway.
Jasmine put on her shoes, a extra sweater over her top and picked up her
bag, ready to go. When she turned to her mum, she found her staring at her.
"What now?!"
Her mum walked up to her and put one of her hands on Jasmine's forehead.
"Are you feeling ok? Maybe you have the fever…" she said serious.
Jasmine didn't understand a thing!
"What?!"
"You must have the fever or something… otherwise you wouldn't only be
bringing ONE suitcase." her mum cracked up laughing.
Jasmine smirked.
"Ha… Ha… Ha… VERY funny!!"
"I was expecting you with at least THREE… and you never have less than two."
"Mum… have you ever heard of the verb 'shopping'" Jasmine smiled and
continued. "I thought I wouldn't bring so much cause I'm gonna buy new
clothes over here, and wear those… and besides, if I bring a lot of clothes
I won't be able to carry everything back home."
"Yeah, I know what you mean, I was only joking… Let's go"
And the two of them left to the car.
The two of them talked and laughed the whole way to the airport. They
stopped for a while to get Jasmine's candy and magazines. Jasmine was
looking forward to her trip, but all the time she had the feeling that
someone was watching her. But she shook that feeling away, she was only
being silly.
"Bye, honey. Take care of yourself now."
"Thank you SO much for making this possible mum…"
She gave her mum a big hug, and tears were forming in her eyes. Partly form
gratitude and partly because this was after all the longest time they would
be apart from each other in the past five years since her dad died.
Jasmine laughed through the tears and pulled away from the hug.
"This is silly! It's only 20 days and we're acting like it's a lifetime."
Her mum laughed too.
"Yeah, I know… but I'll miss you so much"
"I'll miss you too mum."
And once again they were hugging.
Jasmine looked over her mum's shoulder. For a second she thought she saw
Sebastian, but in a split second he was gone… so she assumed it was her eyes
playing her a trick. She didn't want to admit it to her mum nor herself, but
she was afraid of Sebastian now. She was afraid of not knowing what he would
do when they met again. He was so angry when she left him…
"I gotta go now mum, it's twelve o'clock… the plane is leaving soon."
"Ok honey. Remember to enjoy yourself now."
"I promise. Have fun on your trip too." She gave her mum a quick kiss. "I
love you…and thanks again."
Her mum smiled.
"You're welcome… and I love you too."
And finally they broke apart, and Jasmine boarded the plane waving to her
mother.
Jasmine sat back and relaxed as the plane took off. She closed her eyes and
listened to the voices of the Backstreet Boys singing 'No one else comes
close' to her in her walkman.
