A Boogie Woogie Night at Thetford Forest

What a brilliant night is all I will say! It started off with the lovely Christopher Holland playing a 30 min set with Ron on guitar, and also to my delight a mandolin for one song! He played songs from his new CD (Which I would say you all need), not only them though, tempted and I saw the light. In fact he had us singing at one point, something along the lines of ‘ooooe oooooe ooe baby’. After that I had to rush off to grab Chris’s CD, and come back for our main guys!

Well just before Jools I rushed to the front, to grab a spot in front of Lisa and her sax, I’m usually in front of Mark, so it was nice for a change! We started off with seventh son, followed by the hand that changed its mind. By this time my boogie muscle was warming up quite nicely, Jools as per usual a total crowd charmer. The entire band seemed to be gleaming tonight. Mark doing loads of brilliant guitar solo’s (that made it for me, anyone that knows me knows how mad I am about him) everyone dancing, and clapping both on and off stage. I must mention Lisa, she was brill last night! She did a beautiful solo at one point, and was smiling all night. Everyone on stage was dancing and generally looked like they were having one heck of a time like us in the crowd! We had solo off of pretty much everyone! Sang along with shake rattle and roll, and boogied like no one was watching (excluding the odd annoying person).

At the end of the night we had been played about 2 hours and 20 mins worth of boogie tastic music! Very bluesy in fact! We had both old and new tunes, tunes from ska, to some amazing Ray Charles songs. I can hardly remember the set list; I was having too much fun. Sorry about whacking, or standing on toes, and also my bad singing anyone near to me! I was possessed, like always my soul was out of control!

At the end we had to encores (the usual) one of which we sang along to. Loads of songs in these, Winston jumping around the stage with his trombone. Chris Holland joining Jools on piano, Jools dancing over to Harold the harpsichord. The usual stuff in mega pupations!

That has been the best Jools gig for me, in a long while! Real proper Jools, no friends plugging just good old Jools! Anyone who’s not gone to see Jools before, DO, they are on top form!

I certainly dig them, my only thing I was upset about no Flanagan CD’s for sale – I wanted to buy ‘like a fool’ for a mate! Plugs Mark!

Thetford Forest is one awesome venue! Roll on July the 5th!

Sorry kinda long,

Love Alex
