A Good Night's Sleep

DO:

Maintain a regular bedtime and rising time, even if you have had trouble sleeping the night before.

Reserve your bedroom for sleep- don't eat, talk on the phone, read or watch TV there.

Exercise regularly, but in the morning, if possible.

Prepare your bedroom to provide maximum comfort and minimum distraction.

 

DON'T

Don't take naps during the day.

Don't drink caffeine containing beverages after noon.

Don't eat late evening meals, drink large quantities of fluid late in the evening, or eat heavy, spicy foods late in the day.

Don't lie awake  in bed for long periods of time. If you can't fall asleep within 30 minutes, get out of bed, and do something relaxing (or even boring!) before trying to go to sleep again.
