Dalkey Village |
Dalkey Castle |
|
Dalkey is a very picturesque village which is very close to where we live. We don't tend to go there very often though as we do most of our shopping etc in Dun Laoghaire. I wanted to see the castle in Dalkey and took these photos there that day. The old ruined church included above is right next to Dalkey Castle.

We were lucky enough to be taken to see Newgrange by a friend on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year. The tour includes visits to both the Knowth and Newgrange mounds although the latter is the most impressive. Although not as well known, Newgrange is a listed world heritage site along with The Great Wall of China, Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. It is perfectly aligned to the winter solstice and when you are taken inside artificial light is used the rest of the year to produce the same effect. It is not known whether Newgrange was actually a tomb besides being a temple for religious rites. It is in the Boyne Valley in County Meath just north of Dublin.
Feeding Swans |
Blackrock Park |
|
The swans at Blackrock Park had six babies and I have been watching them grow up from the train. They are now at the gangly teenager stage and we went to the park one Sunday to see them. The last photo was taken in our garden.
