Like these lonely rocks on the shore of Lake Superior, life carves us.
We don't ask to be carved this way or that. We don't get a choice in what life does to us, hands us to deal with, imposes on us. We are like these rocks on the shore, made up of various compositions of strength, various compositions of weaknesses, various compositions of this earth's elements.
We are like these lonely rocks, standing and enduring the difficulties, the storms, the constant waves that continue to mold us and change us. We are in a state of change as each new development creates more lines, more designs, a new face to show the world.
And like these rocks, we continue to stand and we continue to represent ourselves with steadfast determination to exist. It seems as if we have no more choice than these rocks, to stay, to receive, to process, and ultimately to reflect our lives to others.
As I came to this shoreline and walked through the dense forest to see this beautiful representation of endurance, I was in awe of the determination of the rocks. We are like these rocks, determined to stand our ground and hold onto whatever shreds of life that are left to us, after the elements and the fates have carved us to be what we are today.
