Lee Blue may seem a bit bonkers at times, but there's a lot more to him than meets the eye! He's a writer, director and performer, but where does his future lie? TV Hits asked him...
Director?
Breathe East was the first video I got to co-direct and that was wicked. All of us in Blue do different things - I think it's because we're not just singers. There's lots of thing we all love doing, like I love writing scripts. I didn't really read up on directing beforehand - when you've been doing videos for years, yuo get to know how it all works. I've written a couple of other treatments for videos, so hopefully I'll get to do some more in the future!
Songwriter?
I've been writing songs with a few different people. I'm always in the studio - everyone reckons I'm always out partying, but I'm not! When I'm not working with Blue, I'm working on my own stuff. If someone gives me a word, I can put it into a melody. Like the people I was writing with said "breathe easy" and I came up with "I can't breathe easy, can't sleep at night till you're by my side..." That's about my ex-girlfriend Carly. I left her, but I ended up looking for someone just like her. I think I've always had a soft spot for her because she was my first love.
Scriptwriter?
I wrote a film when I was younger and it's finally been commissioned! It's kinda of about the way my life could have gone and it's really sad. It's about drugs and racism and all the other stuff I grew up with. It's a big challenge growing up, and that's what it's about - gangs, drug abuse, the pressures of being a teenager. I'm going to make sure the actors in it are real people. I'm going to go round detention centres and find real kids with problems.
Husband?
Things are cool with Maxine, but I'm not going to jinx it by saying anything. I'm seeing her and it's going really well... We met on tour and she's just a normal girl which is cool. She's finding it tough, because it's hard to find time to spend together. The thing I've always found hard with my relationships is jealousy. Girls come up to you and say they want to marry you, and some people find it hard to understand that it's not real. It's a bit daunting for Maxine at the moment. It's cool, but first and foremost I've got my career to think about. I'm still only 20!
PR?
I'm a businessman, so I know how the press works. If I'm in the tabloids being slated, I'm still in the public eye. And if I'm not there, I know someone else will be. Sometimes there are things I don't want people to print - like when someone printed my mum's address - but there's a lot of stuff I don't mind. It's a cut throat business and you've got to be on the ball!
Loan Shark?
I'm a bit stupid with money! Once, I was out and I saw this new couple who had just got married, so I bought them a bottle of champagne. When the bill came, it turned out the bottle had cost £400! I'd gone over my daily limit of how much money I had to spend, so it just wouldn't go through. I was like, "Er..."!
