Blue went to Prague to prove their tunes help ya breathe more easily!
Being one of the biggest bands on the planet, you'd expect Blue's video shoots to take place in the most glam locations, with the sun beating down and bikini clad laydeez flitting around a huge swimming pool. Not when Lee Ryan's in charge! Seeing as the clever chap wrote Breathe Easy himself, the record company asked him to come up with a treatment (that's a story to you and me) for the video. Fast forward a few weeks and here we are in freezing Prague wearing every piece of thermal underwear we could lay our hands on!!
"It's freezing man," grins Lee in between sneezes - he's coming down with the flu, but that's not going to put him off the job in hand. "I came up with this idea of having guardian angels in the video. I really believe in them, my nan passed away a few weeks back, but I'm sure she's looking down on me now like a guardian angel, and that's what the video's about. It says when you feel alone in your life, and you're so upset that you can't breathe, remember that there's someone there with you."
Acting!
"It's cool coz we're all getting a chance to act in the video," adds Duncan. "We're playing the part of these angels, protecting people so they don't feel alone. We've all come from acting backgrounds."
"I was like, there's no way I'm writing a video where we all stand around looking pretty," Lee agrees. "I wanted to make it emotional."
"My favourite bit is when Simon's trying to look all sincere," grins Ant. "It was cracking me up, it was so weird seeing him like that!"
"Yeah, but I want to do it well,"laughs Simon. "The video's Lee's baby so I don't want to mess him around! We all have other things that we're into and this is something he feels strongly about. He's doings really well."
"Except you can never find him," jokes Duncan. "We keep having to go off and find him all the time. He keeps sneaking off and we'll find him in the restaurant or trying to get a bit of kip!" Bless him!"
"I'll let you in to a secret," confides Duncan. "Johnny, our tour manager, bought us thermal long johns, so we're wearing them, thermal socks and pants. Then we've got gloves, coats, and scarves... It's cool though. I like being cold, I sleep with my window open. I like it to be cold outside while I'm cosy under my duvet."
Snowball Fights!
"It's cool cos we get to play in the snow," winks Lee. "I've been trying to start a snowball fight and they're like, 'If you chuck one more snowball, I'll kill you!'"
"It's not just you that's been worrying me though," grins Simon. "I'm afraid of heights and there's this one scene where we're standing on top of bridge behind this fella who look like he's about to jump. We were harnessed in but I kept slipping and I was so scared of falling off!"
"It's been wicked though," smiles Lee. "When we did the Guilty shoot in Prague, we shot it in this industrial estate, probably the most minging part of the whole country. This place is so beautiful, it's stunning. And cos I've been co-directing it, it's been much more fun than normal. It's been mad seeing it all come to life, I'm really proud of it!"
