….There’s a chair shop right across from our building. From our room I can see the people making chairs. It’s really very interesting. The chairs aren’t chairs, they’re works of art. There are other artsy shops next door and across the courtyard. I was looking out the window earlier, and I think I was witness to a birthday party. In one of the studios across the courtyard, I saw a man carrying a cake with lots of candles on it. Then another man, who was sitting on a couch, stood up and got what looked like a camera. A couple of minutes later, a couple of girls arrived, and one seemed excited and surprised. Everybody was hugging and laughing and smiling; it was so sweet! Once they calmed down, they poured drinks and sat around talking…
