Mike Shaheen DOB 5/20/81 I started playing the bass 8 years ago and I still suck. When I went to McLean High I joined a band called Six 15. Somehow I became the lead singer of the band even though I had no intentions of singing. We played pop punk which sounded ok but Six 15 was all about the look. I actually transfered from the College of Charleston to play with Six 15 during my sophmore year. Our manager Keith Lazorchek paved a great path for Six 15 by getting us shows and making sure we were getting shit done. Soon after transfering Six 15 broke up. (hahahah) I continued to play music with the newist guitar player of Six 15(Dave Sandoval) because he wasn't all about the gay bullshit like Six 15. Dave and I wanted to play songs that didn't sound all the same and have stupid catchy hooks. We decided that we were going to find a new drummer so we could rock once again. While looking for a drummer we got some acoustic shows thanks to Ricky Bongos. Ricky was really interested in what we were doing so he joined us in our acoustic shows playing the bongos. For a couple of months we had no drummer so we played a shit load of acoustic shows and thats how Brevity was formed. The only thing left was to find the right drummer. One day when we were jaming in Rick's garage, a frat brother stopped by to say whats up and it turned out that he was a drummer looking to play. Alex Nees was discovered and the Brevity was finally completed. There is no bullshit in Brevity. I don't care what the band looks like and I really don't care about writing a buch of simple catchy pop songs. "Fuck That Shit"
Why do I play music?
I play music because it is a release from all the bullshit in this world. I play for myself and no one else. My goal out of music is to transform into the best possible musician I can be. I don't give a rats ass if people like what I play or not. Many people play in a band because they want tons of fans to sing their lyrics and they want to be famous rock stars. I am in a band because I enjoy performing beautiful music that comes from my soul. If I played what only people wanted to hear then I would be board all time. This all sounds some what selfish, but I think that music is about true expression and not about fame and fortune. I think music is a challenge and I want people to be confused after they listen to Brevity. What fun is it to see a band that plays simple shitty music that everyone has heard before. I would like to thank Mike Patton and the Dillinger Escape plan for changing my life. Mike Patton used to be the singer for Faith no More and he got sick of all the success from being on tv and being liked by everyone. If you listen to his first band Mr. Bungle then you will see why he is the sickest vocalist in the world. He fucking rocks but yet so many people hate him cause his style is unfamiliar. I want everyone to hear my music and if you like it you like, if you don't like it then you don't like it. Bio Update
Brevity is now broken up. We sucked so it was time to stop. I am in no bands so I have nothing going on. I really suck at the bass. Mr. Bungle.
BIO UPDATE OCt. 15, 2003 Dave, Chis, Jsson, and my self have formed an unit. We are working our butts off to create some crazy shit. You will all see my children. HELLA
