Fall pics

Here are some pics from "the day of the baby turtles,"
the journal posting I made way back on 16 OCT 2008. =)




This is the area of the Flint River

where we happened to catch a great

turtle-sighting day.





It's hard to get a perspective in this pic

of just how small these little spuds are;

their shells are about the size of a silver dollar.





This is one of the best shots my wife got

of the little baby snapping turtles





Here you can see nice detail on the facial markings,

and you can also see by the mud on the shell how much

they enjoy burrowing in the mud of this shallow river.





Besides the baby [snapping] turtles,

we also got to see some nice painted turtles;

here's one of the best shots my wife got of them.
