Activites
for Saint Valentines Day
Activities
for young learners:
Make a card: The teacher should give the students a heart-shaped paper and then the kids colour it.
Another way to do it that looks much nicer is glueing on the card red glitter, instead of colouring it.
The
card looks really nice and children love working with
glitter!!
Activities
for teenagers-adults:
Talking
about the past:
As
adults and teenagers around 16 or older don't really feel like making love cards, it's
better to spend the class
talking
about the origins of St. Valentine. Let's see if they know something
about Cupid, the Grecian god of love (also
known
as Eros in the Roman tradition) who spent his eternity making people fall in love or
hate each other. Then you can talk about what are their plans for that day, if they are
planning anything special...
Carnival
activities!
Make a
mask: I usually
make the masks myself and the ones that have been most successful are the monkey mask and
the sun mask.
How
to make the monkey mask: you
need different colours because it's an activity of cutting and gluing, the mask has
several parts. The first is a brown oval which is the monkey's face and on it you have to
glue a smaller oval made of orange papers. To make the nose and the ears you have to cut a
yellow circle and two bean-form ears to glue on the brown monkey face. It looks great!
How
to make the sun mask: this one
is easier. You just need yellow paper and then draw a circle, then add as many triangles
around the circle as your children can cut and draw a funny nose and eyes and that's all!
Make
a fancy dress: taking a
big plastic bag as the basis of the dress make whatever you want to glue on it: stars,
rainbows, animals, moons, suns... And then make up the children's faces.
