Chester City ISA FC 9 - 1 Tattenhall FC

Imperials, Blacon     Sunday 17th February 2002

The following photo's were taken during the monumental victory over our nearest rivals for the Section D title in February 2002. At the time of writing it is not known whether the season ends in glory or despair, but for this one, short bright moment, we were top of the world.

Pre-match nerves... Mark Howell (9), Steve Sandbach (training top), Andy Johnson (facing) and Graeme Reynolds (7) all discuss how little sleep they had had the night before, prior to kick off.

Man of the match... Tattenhall applied all the early pressure, and Tommy Hollinger made a couple of cracking saves. Jonathan Hocking, Steve Painter and Dave Melson look on in anguish here as the superb Hollinger saves well at the base of his post from the visitors number 9.

Panic on the streets of Blacon... Mark Howell, Kev Thomas and Graeme Reynolds conspire to cause chaos in the Tattenhall goalmouth following a Rob Reay corner. Seconds later Howell (extreme left of picture) cracked the loose ball in off the far post to give the home side a vital 1-0 lead.

Oooh! it's a corner... The visitors attempt to strike right back. The ISA defenders from left to right are Kevin Thomas (6), Paul Brazier, Unknown (shielded from view by Howell's svelt figure), Jon Hocking, Steve Painter, Tommy Hollinger, Rob Reay and David Melson. The ball was launched clear...

Catch me if you can... ...to allow Andy Johnson to race clear. Graeme Reynolds (7) and Mark Howell (9) make a token gesture to catch him in case he wants to pass!

It's all over now... Reynolds and Howell salute the Cemetry End as Johnson wheels away in celebration having banged in the fourth. The Tattenhall goalkeeper and defenders are resigned to the fact that this is not to be their day.
