The lunatics have taken over the asylum... My friend and me, were looking through my red box of memories... and we found some priceless Terry Smith correspondence. This is the first of about 4 that are publishable (is there such a word?), and just about sums the man's knowledge up. If you like this, leave a message on the board and I'll continue to share them...
The team finished in eighth place, a full 24 points behind Rushden and Diamonds, despite City being the Best Team Terry had seen. Despite this finish, which consolidated City's position in the Conference, Smith appointed crackpot sidekick Gordon 'Spitter' Hill Director of Football in May 2001. Barrow resigned in June with Hill managing first team affairs. This prompted City fans to boycott games. It wasn't until the end of September that Stephen Vaughan bought Smith out, with the Club languishing at the bottom of the Conference, and gates were being severely affected by the boycott. Only 605 watched the 2-2 draw with Telford on the 6th September. Some boycotters have never returned. |
