| (Maldivian Footballer of the year 1999 Ali-Shiham, accompanied with Ali-Umar and Thoddoo Nizam gave an emphatic win for Valencia in the first ever game in 2001. It was Victory's third game. Valencia's attacking department was totally outstanding in this game as all the members in the forward broke the dead lock against the reigning National / Dhivehi League / FA Cup Champions Victory) |

| MAN OF THE MATCH :- ALI-SHIHAM (HURAA AYYA) |

| MAN OF THE MATCH :- ASSAD ABDUL GHANY |

| Valencia 04 |
| New Radiant 01 |
| Scorers :- Ali-Umar (Ayya), Nikolai Donav and Ismail Mahfooz (Imma, 2 goals) |
| MAN OF THE MATCH :- ISMAIL MAHFOOZ (IMMA) |
|
(Valencia continues their winning streak, this time by thrashing the reigning Cup Winners' Cup champions New Radiant 4-1. After this match New Radiant was eliminated from the Rf.100, 000 competition. A 4-0 win for New Radiant in this game and if Victory fails to win against Huraa, was the only way that New Radiant would play in the final. But it is assured that Valencia will meet Victory in the final. This was a very exciting match as New Radiant got off to a great start, pressuring the three-time winner and scoring in the 5th minute. After about 15 minutes, Valencia gained the match control and came from behind to score four goals to put them in the FINAL with an unbeaten record. Nikolai Donav scored a fabulous free kick to level the score and after few minutes Imma scored their second from a pass by Donav. Imma made it three, his second, after the break. Finally Ali-Umar scored a brilliant long-range shot to make it 4-1. New Radiant on a miserable 5-1 defeat against Victory, played some good soccer in the second half. Earlier in the first half Thoddoo dribbled through three-four defenders and missed the final shot, which otherwise would have been the goal of the competition and Ali-Shiham also missed some golden chances. Due to this comprehensive win, Valencia will play in the final with maximum number of points - i.e. winning ALL the matches) |

(Valencia - favourites of the final match, lost against the underdogs Victory 5-6 on penalties. Both the teams were leveled in the full 90 minutes with one goal apiece. In the shoot-out also the two teams appeared to be equal but Victory became victory when Ismail netted home his penalty. In this match Star midfielder Imma was sidelined in the second half but he played in the first half through injury. Maldivian footballer of the year 1999 Ali-Shiham, also played with injury. The absence of Ali Umar, the star stricker of Valencia was felt so much that it couldnt continue the super performance of the team. The speedy Ali Umar was out of action due to injuries. The other two strickers of Valencia, Ali Shiham and Thoddoo Nizam couldnt find their excellent form, as Ali-Umar was not in the field to assist them. Ali-Shiham and Thoddoo Nizam couldn't penetrate the 4-4-2 Victory defense. Valencia played with 1-2-5-2 formation. Victory's captain Mohamed Ibrahim (Kappi) was sent off in the first half for a foul on Ali-Shiham resulting Valencia to score its only goal from a spot kick by Ali-Shiham himself. Victory's goal came from Friday Gibbon of Nigeria who was completely unmarked. In the first half neither team dominated over other but Valencia had most of the shots. Valencia couldn't capitalize the numerical advantage as the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Valencia got some very good chances in the second half but Imran's performance was outstanding. In the dying minutes Thoddoo should have scored the winner but Imran brilliantly saved his shot. In this game Valencia's Bulgarian Nikolai Donav had a fine match. He played consistently and tried some long-range efforts. The win could have titled in favour of Valencia had Imran not grabbed the two spectacular volleys from Silachi Ayya and Ali-Shiham. Valencia played very well and had many shots in the dying minutes. Victory delayed the match as much as possible to its best. Valencia played after three days followed by their comprehensive 4-0 win over IFC in the F.A Cup Semi final, had tired legs in this match. Victory got more days to prepare for this final as they were eliminated from the F.A Cup. According to Cup Winners' Cup rules there must be an extra time of play if the match levels in 90 minutes, but since the stadium's lights were not functioning referee commenced the shoot-out. The absence of Ali-Umar, injured Imma, Ali-Shiham and impressive former captain Bimma, might be the case for the loss. It was widely believed that high riding Valencia would win the final match easily for the outstanding display by them so far this year) PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

| (Valencia came from behind to score two valuable goals against the reigning second division champions Maaziya to secure a place in the Semi Finals. Valencia dominated the match; especially in the second half they played gritty soccer and missed couple of open chances. In the first half Donav hit the crossbar and the post denied one of the Silachi Ayya's shot) |

| MAN OF THE MATCH :- ALI-SHIHAM (HURAA AYYA) |
| (Valencia beat IFC by four to nothing to give them a chance to play a second consecutive final this year. Jadaa of IFC was sent off but before that IFC trailed three goals. Valencia's main stricker, Ali-Umar had to leave the field after 20 minutes of play for a crucial tackle on him by Naseem (KD) of IFC and he might be not able to play in the upcoming two final matches. Valencia got even more chances but they wasted several opportunities scoring around one third of its chances. Remember IFC are the side who beat a third division club, Oceans by 22-0 and they too knocked reigning F.A Cup champions Victory from the competition) |

(It was widely believed that Valencia would thrash New Radiant as they were completely outclassed by Valencia in the Cup Winners' Cup. New lost 4-1 in that encounter. In this match New Radiant played a defensive game through out the entire 90 minutes in order to stop Valencia's dreadful attack. Despite of the injuries, Ali-Umar, Ali-Shiham and Imma played in this final since Valencia had no other options. Much fancied Valencia dominated the full 90 minutes. They played their normal attacking game in the first half. Imma blasted the first dangerous shot of the match in the 13th minute but denied by the New goalie. Much of the crowd came to a silent as New Radiant scored the first goal of the match. When almost all the players of Valencia were in the New Radiant's half, a New defender cleared the ball. Then Valencia's sweeper Assad tried to blast it but couldn't hit, resulting an unmarked Dominick to score New's only goal. This was a big blunder by Assad. Had it passed that ball to another man the score wouldn't read 1-0 for New Radiant. Valencia scored its only goal from a spot kick by Ali-Umar. When he was dribbling inside the box, the only way to stop him was to bring him down inside the penalty area. Yoottey brought him down and without hesitation the referee's right hand pointed out into the middle of the box. In the 30th minute Thoddoo got a very open chance but denied by Timo. In a corner in the 37th minute, three players tried to score (Silachi, Ali-Shiham and Thoddoo) but the ball didn't seem to be crossing the three bars like repelling a NORTH-NORTH as in a bar magnet. Unfortunately Thoddoo's 43rd minute cross hit the crossbar. Valencia had about 75% of the ball possession and a lot of corners in successions made no real impact. In the second half New Radiant seemed to be wasting time as the match progressed. As in the first half, Valencia had the ball possession but they didn't get more open chances as before. Ali-Shiham was substituted in this half since he couldn't play at his best due to an injury, which caused him in the last game against IFC. "The only thing that Valencia couldn't do was to beat the New goalie. Except this, full credit to them"; Commentators said. Valencia, yet to be defeated in this year in the open play of 90 minutes, continues to nine matches now. In the Cup Winners' Cup Final Valencia lost to Victory in a shoot-out) |
| 14TH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (F.A) CUP FINAL REPLAY MATCH 22ND JUNE 2001 FRIDAY |
| Valencia 00 |
| New Radiant 02 |
|
(Valencia - hot favourites of the final match, lost for the first time in 90 minutes in 2001 as the Cup Winners' Cup beaten finalists were beaten again to underdogs New Radiant. Valencia with the ball - New Radiant netting home - that's a typical heading for this match. All the drama you could have seen if you had been at Galolhu stadium from 1050GMT to 1250GMT on 22nd June 2001. Valencia played with injured Ali-Shiham, Ali-Umar, Thoddoo, Imma, Nikolai Donav, Modey and Bimma. Ali-Umar didn't even play in the second half. Injured Bimma also came as a substitute in the second half. In the first half New Radiant scored its first goal in the 6th minute from a header that could have easily saved by Silachi, who was at the left goal post. In the 9th minute Thoddoo dribbled through defenders with ease and crossed the ball. The cross beat the goalkeeper but Ali-Umar couldn't get the final touch to an empty net. In the 33rd minute Donav's long-range effort drifted inches away from the crossbar. In this half neither team did play well but Valencia had the ball possession slightly. New got many open chances in this half. Commentators also noticed that Nahid, sweeper of New, hits a big one and no matter where it goes, whenever he gets the ball most of the time it goes out for a throw. In the second half it was completely a one-way traffic to Valencia. A replica of the first half as in 6th minute on a counter attack New scored its second goal by Dominick, who was left unmarked. Modey was replaced by an injured Bimma and Hamzath replaced Captain Silachi Ayya. As a result of these switches they pushed forward a little bit, got numerous chances and as a result, New goalie was very busy all the time. Valencia controlled the whole midfield line. Almost in the last 45 minutes the ball was on New Radiant's half. In the 66th minute Timo saved a Thoddoo's shot brilliantly for a corner. In the 84th minute Thoddoo's thundering shot denied by Timo and in the 90th minute too, Timo grabbed a Thoddoo's shot. There were even more shots by them on New's goal. Valencia won several corners in successions. There had been several number of bookings for New Radiant as New got six yellow cards and a red. Dominick was sent-off in the 88th minute. Valencia dominated about 80%-90% in the second half as New Radiant played an ultra defensive game in the second half. In this final match Mohamed Nizam (Thoddoo) was outstanding. He was simply irresistible, flying everywhere on the ground. He played for left back, left midfield, center forward, right midfield and so on. After the match Valencia's veteran Uzbekistani coach said that the main reasons for losing the two final matches were undoubtedly because of the injuries, tiredness and luck. Valencia played very important matches in succession. They played the important Semi Final match against IFC on 12th of June. Three days later, Valencia played the Cup Winners' Cup Final and after another three days, the F.A Cup Final. New Radiant got enough days to prepare for this final as they were eliminated from the Cup Winners' Cup. Victory got enough days to prepare for the Cup Winners' Cup final as they were eliminated from the F.A Cup. But compared to Victory and New Radiant, Valencia played in the two finals, which caused them to play too many matches in a shorter period. The winner could have titled in favour of Valencia if Assad hadn't done that blunder in the previous final. New Radiant does not deserve this trophy but by luck some how they managed to win against the much fancied and rampant Valencia. In the three final matches, Ali-Umar, Ali-Shiham, Imma, Bimma played with injuries. Donav and Thoddoo had minor injuries. Certainly it was not a 100% fit attacking Valencia. It was widely believed that Valencia would win this rematch, but they lost their second final in a row, coming empty handed after a promising start for the season as they thrashed big teams at an average of four goals per match) |

| MAN OF THE MATCH :- MOHAMED NIZAM (THODDOO) |
| (Valencia avenged the F.A Cup 2001 defeat by beating archrivals New Radiant to earn three valuable points. A very one-sided game in the first half as Valencia had many shots on target. Referee should have given a penalty for Valencia, as there was a handball inside the box. Captain Silachi Ayya and Ali-Shiham didn't play in the curtain raiser of the 51st National Soccer Tournament's Male' League. In the second half there was a very even game but New Radiant played very well in the dying minutes. Valencia's new Bulgarian defender Asen Kostadinov Slachev played an important role in the defense) |

| Island Football Club (IFC) 02 (1 Penalty) |
| Scorer :- Ali-Shiham (Huraa Ayya) |
| (Valencia's Bimma was sent-off and IFC also had their Sri Lankan Jayasuriya and Vildan sent-off, all in the first half. IFC earned a spot kick as Bimma, who was red carded, brought down Vildan inside the box. When Valencia kicked off followed by Lachchey's penalty, Vildan fouled on Ali-Umar and when the referee was taking the yellow card out of his pocket, Vildan deliberately hit with the elbow on Valencia's Bulgarian defender Asen that caused him to leave the field immediately. In the second half Valencia dominated. When almost all the players were in the IFC half, IFC scored its second goal on a timely counter attack by Oppu, who was completely unmarked. Valencia had many shots than IFC and they had the ball possession too. In the 77th minute Imma's shot went over the crossbar by inches. Valencia could have been the winner if IFC goalkeeper had not grabbed the precise two long-range shots from Ali-Shiham and Donav respectively. Valencia pushed forward as the game progressed. The 84th minute strike from Thoddoo put the game back to play after hitting the crossbar) |
| 15th July 2001 Sunday |
| Valencia 02 |
| Hurriyya 02 |
| Scorers :- Mohamed Nizam (Thoddoo) and Abdulla Shahid |
| (Huraa stunned Valencia in this contest as the underdogs Huraa scored from a header and a free kick - as Aslam took a back pass, in the first half to shock the spectators but Valencia pulled one back just one minute before the break. Thoddoo's equalizer in the second half vanished Huraa's dream of winning its first game against a big club. Valencia, who played without Ali-Umar, Fanthoshi Nazim, Silachi and Bimma, deserved more than two goals as they played a wonderful football in the second half but due to lack of alertness and concentration they lost the opportunity to beat Huraa by a larger margin. Valencia had the ball possession, got very open chances in the second half. Huraa also got very open chances in the second half on counter attacks as the overwhelming crowd anticipated a free open attacking game of football in the second half. Thoddoo Nizam hit the crossbar twice and Asen's free kick hit the post too. Many crosses beat the keeper but Valencia players missed the finishing touch to an empty net, which otherwise Huraa would be beaten comprehensively by more than seven or eight goals. Imma, Ali-Shiham, Asim, Ammadey and Thoddoo missed some very good chances but it was just unlucky day for them. Ali-Shiham nearly got into the scoring sheet as he beat the keeper and hit with his genuine right foot to an empty goal, but unfortunately a Huraa defender cleared the ball before it crossed the line) |

In the dying minutes Ali-Umar escaped from two defenders with a superb individual solo dribbling and gave it to Ali-Shiham, who scored with ease at the first touch to read the score 3-1. Imma, Jameel (suspended) and Bulgarian Asen didn't play in this contest as Hurriyya dominated the second half but counter attacks from Ali-Shiham, Ali-Umar, Thoddoo, Kunley and Donav had been very dangerous. | (Valencia defeated Victory 2-1, a replica score when the two sides met last in the 2nd Round of the Male' League. It didn't take much time as Thoddoo slotted a powerful strike home in the 2nd minute to break the deadlock; Ali-Shiham was the goal maker. Valencia's goalkeeper Aslam made some crucial saves until Victory scored a late goal by Valencia's captain Thoddoo Mohamed Nizam's younger brother Shiyam, who was completely unmarked. Valencia's Ali-Umar, who scored the only goal for the Maldivian under 23 National side in a friendly against Christian College FC, a first division club of Thailand, scored the second goal on a counter attack. Ali-Shiham was unlucky not to score as he missed several golden opportunities to beat the reigning Dhivehi League Champions Victory with a massive score line. Though Victory dominated, Valencia got most of the open chances. Imma and Bimma didn't play in the clash. This was Valencia's third consecutive win against Victory and in all these matches Ali-Shiham won the 'Man of the match' award) |

| (Valencia missed several chances to beat the Runner-up club of Inter Atoll Zone tournament, Veymandoo by a double figure. First half ended 0-0. Bimma replaced Modey and Silachi Ayya replaced Dhombe. Then it was a one way traffic as Valencia kept pressuring the opponent in most of the time. Valencia struggled to open the account until the 7th minute of the second half from a long-range shot by Assad. A minute later the underdogs leveled 1-1 and brought the game into excitement. Valencia's Nikolai Donav scored the second and after that it was Ali-Shiham, who scored a hat trick and in all the cases the goal maker was Thoddoo, who missed five or six open chances. Valencia could have ensured a double figure win had Veymandoo's goalkeeper Fulhu not saved the numerous swift shots from the boots of the Valencia players. Suspensions kept Ali-Umar and Jameel out of the contest and Imma didn't play due to injuries) |

Valencia pulled one back before the half time by Silachi Ayya. Nikolai Donav's free kick into the area and Silachi Ayya headed the ball past the goalkeeper, first to open the IFC goal in the Dhivehi League. Ammadey hit the bar in the first half and the cross bar denied Nikolai Donav's free kick in the second half. Naushad made some excellent saves in the second half. | (Valencia beat Hurriyya and seeks for the Dhivehi League title for the first time since its inception. The score and the goal scorers for Valencia were the same when these two rivalries met last in the Male' League's second round. Without Imma, the midfield master, Valencia produced glorious goal scoring opportunities but unlucky not to penetrate through Huraa's keeper Ishaq. Ali-Shiham and Ali-Umar got more than five or six open chances together that could have brought them a convincing victory. In the first half referee should have given a penalty for Valencia for a foul on Ali-Shiham. Valencia earned a spot kick in the second half as Ali-Umar was brought down inside the box that forced Hurriyya to play with ten men for the remaining minutes. Valencia had much of the ball possession but were under pressure inside the first 15-20 minutes of the second half. Valencia will clinch a major trophy for the first time in two years if they beat Inter Atoll Zone Champions Hinnavaru Hespares in the next game) |

(Club Valencia won a major trophy after nine straight tournaments and won a league after three years by thrashing the 2001 Inter Atoll Zone Champions Hinnavaru Hespares 5-0. Valencia last won a league back in 1997 when they clinched the National League title after defeating Victory Sports Club 3-2 in an exhilarating match. Valencia dominated the entire full 90 minutes. Midfielders Assad and Nikolai Donav played consistently and made accurate passes to the team members. Ammadey opened the account in the very first minute from a header and Ali-Shiham increased the lead from a close range shot. Then it was Ali-Umar, who opened his account with only a small flick of the boot was enough to beat the goalkeeper. Valencia's captain Thoddoo Nizam scored his only goal after a long run just minutes before the break. Ali-Umar's second goal of the game was the only goal in the second half. In this half Ali-Shiham's header from a corner denied hitting the woodwork. In addition to this Valencia missed several goal-scoring opportunities. Ali-Umar was adjudged as the man of the match for his precise passes and decisive finishing. Valencia's sweeper Bulgarian Asen Kostadinov Slachev was booked and he will not play in the upcoming National final match. Injuries kept Imma out of the entire Dhivehi League 2001. Dhivehi League is the most vital competition of all. The top teams from each atoll will play in the final round in Male'. From the final round, after splitting into groups, the best two teams will reach the final. (Hinnavaru Hespares and Veymandoo Zuvaanunge Gulhun reached this time). Those two finalists will join with the Male' League's top clubs to play in the Dhivehi League. Now, it is a league between the best clubs in the Maldives. The team that clinches the Dhivehi League will eventually be the top club in the Maldives and as a result, they are honoured to take part in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League the following year) |

(It was widely believed that Valencia would win the final easily since Victory had to play without five key players due to suspensions. Victory lost four matches in the year 2001 so far, all to Club Valencia. Past encounters were 4-1, 1-1, 3-2, 2-1 and 2-1 but the drama changed as Victory edged Valencia for the first time in the open play of 90 minutes, in 2001. Valencia, clear favourites of the final match, played without their inform sweeper Asen Kostadinov of Bulgaria and midfielder Imma but dominated over Victory through out the game. In the second half Valencia was reduced to eight men as Fanthoshi, Bimma and Ali-Umar were sent off. Ali-Umar and Fanthoshi had dubious red cards. Even with eight men, Valencia played its normal entertaining possession football. Eight men Valencia produced many quality chances that couldn't do from the eleven men side, but luck was not with them. Ali-Shiham missed a golden opportunity in the first half from close range. Zariyand brilliantly saved Thoddoo's powerful strike for a corner. In the second half Silachi and Ali-Shiham came closer as they were alone only the keeper to beat, but denied. Ali-Shiham's header and Ali-Umar's curving two shots drifted inches away from the post. Valencia pulled one back just 2 minutes before the end from Jameel, as he thumped a powerful strike home with the out side of the left foot. Assad missed three golden chances in the dying minutes, a header and two long-range shots. In the first half Nikolai Donav had an injury but continued play until the first 45 minutes. Despite of the injury, he completed the second half too, but played consistently and made precise decisive passes to the attackers. Referee Saleem took some poor decisions in this crucial match. Victory scored its two goals on counter attacks in the first half and after taking the lead, they tried their best to delay the match as possible. They played a defensive game through out the game. In the second half Victory had nine men in the defense to bandage the Valencia's dreadful attack) |

| (Valencia beat a Thailand club, Bec-Tero Sasana 3-1 in the first match of the 15th POMIS Cup. Maldivian under 16 forward Ali-Ashfaq (Dhagandey) played in for Ali-Umar, who was suspended for three matches, with Ali-Shiham in the frontline. Ali-Shiham scored twice to lead Valencia past Bec-Tero 2-0 in the first fifteen minutes. After that Bec-Tero dominated the last 30 minutes. In the second half, Bec-Tero dominated the first 30 minutes but couldn't score until Thoddoo struck a beauty after beating a Thai defender. Referee disallowed a Valencia goal in the first half when a Thai defender put to his own net as he was trying to save a Thoddoo pass to Ashfaq, who was onside but caught off side by the linesmen Ameez. Imma replaced Nikolai Donav, who was injured seriously and left the field immediately after an awful challenge. In the second half Ali-Shiham could have scored his hat trick but he was ruled offside by Abeer, the other linesmen. Thoddoo got an excellent chance as he beat the keeper but couldn't shoot to an empty net. In the dying minutes Dhagandey could have scored a wonderful goal as he past two defenders and the keeper and left for Ali-Shiham, who missed a second golden opportunity for a hat trick. A win or a draw against Victory in the next game will guarantee them a place in the last 4) |

Nikolai Donav, Bimma, Ali-Umar (suspended) didn't play in this clash. Valencia dominated the first half, played an entertaining passing game of football. Earlier Thoddoo missed a golden chance, as he had to touch the ball into an empty net when Ali-Shiham's precise cross beat the keeper. Just minutes before the break referee should have given a penalty for Valencia as Imran, Victory and Maldivian National side’s keeper brought down Imma inside the box. Dhagandey scored his first goal for the club by beating the veteran sweeper Kappi and the powerless shot went into the left corner of the net. As in the first half Valencia had the ball possession in the second half but had few goal scoring opportunities. The best chance in this half came from Thoddoo as he past two defenders and took a low shot, the shot beat the keeper, saved by Kappi and finally denied by the post. Valencia won five out of seven games against Victory and those two losses came in the two final matches) |

After missing several chances, Ali-Shiham scored twice in the second half to lead the club for a fourth final in 2001. (Finally Club Valencia avenged the Cup Winners' Cup, F.A Cup and National Tournament's Final defeats as they overwhelm Victory Sports Club 1-0 in the 15th POMIS Cup Final. Valencia last won a final match on 22nd November when they beat Hurriyya Sports Club in the 49th National Final match, which they came from behind to win 2-1. Today's victory was the first lime light after that final and the retaliation in this POMIS Cup was absolutely tremendous and was done in style, winning all the games, scoring seven goals and conceding only one goal (Thailand's goal). This was Valencia's first ever win in a final in two years and the first win in six final matches. Valencia played without their versatile midfielder Nikolai Donav, who was injured and former captain Bimma. This was the third final between Valencia and Victory this year, arguably the strongest two sides in the year 2001. Valencia dominated the first half. In the 5th minute Thoddoo's powerful shot went wide. Asen's 32nd minute free kick went just wide of the left post. In the 34th minute, Ashfaq (Dhagandey) beat Katey and was left alone, but denied by the veteran Zariyand. Victory had five men in the defence and they produced only three shots, two denied by the cross bar and Imma saved Friday’s great strike when the keeper was completely beaten. Second half was an absorbing 45 minutes as Valencia dominated and created many open chances in the first 20-25 minutes. Right from the start they came near to break the dead lock, but Assad's shot went wide at the first attempt. Ali Umar came in for Ali Ashfaq in the 53rd minute. The switch was a commanding one as Victory had difficulties in order to mark the deadly strike force accompanied with Ali Umar-Thoddoo-Ali Shiham. Thoddoo and Ali Shiham were dubiously ruled offside by Hakeem in the 59th and 67th minutes respectively. In the 60th minute referee should have given a penalty as Katey managed to cease a Thoddoo cross by his hands. However, seconds later, Victory paid the price as Valencia got a penalty kick. Thoddoo's corner was well headed by Assad, but managed to hit the cross bar and immediately Kappi got his hands to the ball. Ali Umar, having served a three match suspension, had a marvellous come back by converting the penalty into the top left corner of the net. Ali Umar, villain of the National final match, brought joy as his goal put Victory to its 6th defeat of the season, all to Club Valencia. In the 69th minute, from a precise pass by Thoddoo, Ali Shiham's wonderful strike was unfortunately denied by the cross bar and Imma couldn't score in the rebound. Asen Kostadinov Slachev's 34th minute free kick was well saved by Zariyand for a corner. Valencia played a defensive game in the last 5-10 minutes. Victory's only noticeable shot came from Anil, who hit the cross bar after beating Imma. Ali Shiham of Valencia set a new record (in the history of Maldivian soccer) after this match; the first person to have claimed the POMIS Cup trophy in three successions. He won the POMIS Cup in 1999 and 2000 as a Hurriyya Sports Club player, the club of his own island of Male' Atoll Huraa. In front of the 5819 spectators this final was an entertaining match compared to other final matches. Crowd was inspired with an attacking game of football, especially in the second half. Fesco, being a head coach for the first time, finally managed to unlock Valencia's losing streak in the final matches. It was indeed an overwhelming implementation by Club Valencia in the 15th POMIS Cup)
