 Some International friendly matches

In friendly matches prior to 2002 World Cup, away from home Argentina beat Italy, Germany and Spain by 2-1, 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. Argentina beat Brazil 2-0 in Argentina and they held England to a 0-0 draw at Wembly, England and also held the Netherlands to a 1-1 draw at Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Argentina beat Italy 2-1 in Italy. Hernan Jorge Crespo scored one goal and Argentina dominated the entire 90 minutes. This was Italy's only defeat in their 15 matches after the Euro 2002 tournament when Trapattoni took in charge as their head coach. Italy's only loss at home (away they lost to Czhech), before the World Cup 2002 under Trapattoni was this defeat by Argentina in Rome.
