“Incoming message from LBGAYANDPROUD28.”
Justin gasped as an instant message popped up from the one person he had been waiting to hear from. He was on! Justin could hardly contain his joy. There was something about LB that made him always happy, he just couldn’t put his finger on. Sure, the guy was gay but that didn’t bother Justin at all and ever since the two of them had met, they had been really close. The guy said he had a boyfriend but that was okay with Justin, it wasn’t like he was interested, right? He didn’t know but there was something familiar about LB that he couldn’t put his finger on.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Hey JMAN, what’s up? So glad to see that you’re on right now, we haven’t talked in ages. I guess you’ve been busy.
JMAN: I’ve been very busy lately. There’s a lot going on for me nowadays. I’m always doing one thing or another and I just haven’t had the time to be on. I’m glad to see that you’re on now. I’ve missed our chats.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Are you ever going to tell me what exactly is that you do?
JMAN: No, I can’t do that, sorry LB. I wish I could but, I just can’t. I do have to say that I keep getting this sense that you and I are more familiar than we may think. It’s just weird.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: LOL. That’s interesting. Tell you the truth, I kind of feel a bit of the same way. I don’t know, maybe we just click really well or something.
JMAN: Maybe. But I also have to tell you that now that I think about it, LB are your initials, right?
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Yeah, why do you ask?
JMAN: I used to know someone with those initials. He was a close friend of mine. He had some stunning eyes though.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: LOL. I thought you didn’t swing that way JMAN.
JMAN: I don’t, I just think his eyes were beautiful. They stood out you know?
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Yeah, I know. Eyes are some peoples’ favorite features about people.
JMAN: So, how are things going with your boyfriend?
LBGAYANDPROUD28: It’s over.
JMAN: You’re kidding.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: No, I’m not; it’s really over between us.
JMAN: I’m sorry to hear that LB.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: It’s okay. Hey, I was thinking, if you have a spare moment, did you want to meet in person?
JMAN: Are you sure about that? I mean, I don’t swing that way and you just got out of a relationship. I don’t want you to go head over heels when you see me. Besides, if I meet you, you’ll know who I am.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Hey, I promise you, I won’t hit on you. I just want to hang out with you. Besides, I have my mind on someone else, an old friend of mine. Oh, so, you have one of those celebrity type jobs do you?
JMAN: Oh, you like an old friend of yours? And yes, I guess I am guilty of being a celebrity.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Yeah, even though I know he wouldn’t be interested in me. Don’t worry about the celebrity thing, I completely understand. I won’t make a big deal about it, I promise.
JMAN: Than why have your mind set on him? Alright, I suppose I can trust you to meet me.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: Because, I can’t help the way I feel. Great! I’ll meet you in front of the Olive Garden in about an hour.
JMAN: Okay, I’ll see you there. I’m starving anyway.
LBGAYANDPROUD28: LOL. So am I, see you there!
JMAN: See you!
Justin logged out of the messenger and took a deep breath. He couldn’t believe what he had just agreed to. He was going to meet LB and that was something he had never thought would happen. His heart was racing a mile a minute and he had no idea why. He wasn’t like that, he just didn’t swing that way but something about LB had really gotten his attention and he found himself nervous at the prospect of meeting him.
”Get a hold of yourself, Justin,” he said to himself, running his hands down his face, not knowing what in the world he had just gotten himself into. Sighing heavily, he made his way into the bathroom and started to take a shower to get ready to meet LB.
Justin was now driving along the dark street, heading for the Olive Garden where he would be meeting LB for the first time in just a few moments. He could feel his heart start to beat really fast again and his nerves begin to rise once more.
Why was he so nervous? He didn’t know and he wasn’t sure that he wanted to know. It was just something that he couldn’t explain. He found himself thinking about the very friend that had LB’s initials, Lance. Lance was an amazing guy and he’d always been a great friend, always very supportive. He was sensitive too and he was very devastated when he had learned that Nsync was to be no more. Justin had been devastated too but he had moved on easily and went on to pursue his solo career.
He sighed heavily as he pulled into the parking lot for the Olive Garden, glancing around at the front of the restaurant. He did not see anyone that appeared to be waiting for someone. In fact, he didn’t see anyone out front at all.
”He must not be here yet,” he said aloud as he drove around, trying to find a parking spot.
Moments later, he’d been lucky to come across a car that was pulling out of a spot right in front and had pulled into the spot once it had driven away. He got out and locked the door, taking a deep breath before he made his way to the front to wait for the mysterious LB.
He found his thoughts beginning to drift back to Lance and how he thought he was so amazing. Justin still didn’t know why he thought Lance was so amazing. His eyes were beautiful, that was for sure and he seemed to have no flaws. He was simply perfect, well in Justin’s eyes he had been anyway. It seemed to the others, especially Joey, who was Lance’s best friend out of the group, that Lance was trying hard to keep something from the rest of us and from the rest of the world. It may have been true, Justin didn’t know because he hadn’t been around to really hear the press lately. He’d been too worried about his own thing.
”Hello Justin,” he heard a sudden voice say from behind him. He turned around and his eyes went wide. There stood the very person he had just been thinking about. What Lance was doing here, Justin had no idea.
Than, it hit him. LB had the same initials as Lance. LB had wanted to meet him in front of the Olive Garden and here Lance was standing there looking at him like he had been expecting to find him here. It wasn’t hard to put two and two together. LB stood for Lance Bass, which meant that Lance was LB.
”Lance,” Justin said very quietly, looking at the other slightly older man, who stood in front of him, hands in his pockets and a warm smile on his face. The same smile that always used to make Justin melt when he saw but he could never figure out why. “You’re LB?”
Lance just looked at him for a moment. Apparently, he must have thought that Justin would have known right from the start that it was him. “What, you didn’t know?” he asked, as if confirming Justin’s thoughts.
”I guess I just didn’t think about it but than there’s the fact that the screen name is LBGAYANDPROUD28. You’re twenty-eight but you’re not…oh my God! This is the big news that Chris called me about so long ago but I was too busy to listen to him! Lance, you’re gay?” Lance only nodded and offered Justin another smile.
Justin did something then that he had no idea where it came from. He walked right up to Lance and pressed their lips together hard and heatedly. Lance did not protest. His arms wound around Justin’s waist as he kissed him back both guys’ eyes fluttering shut a moment later as the kiss drew on. It was as if the kiss was a long awaited moment for the both of them and Justin knew right then and there that he had been wanting to do this forever. He could also tell by the way that Lance was kissing him back that he was the friend Lance had been talking about earlier on the messenger. However, there was something that wasn’t true, Justin was not going to deny Lance. Even if he wasn’t that way, he couldn’t do it because he loved him and you can’t help who you fall in love with.
“I love you Lance,” Justin said when the two of them had finally broken apart for air, his arms wrapped around Lance’s neck. Lance smiled back at him.
“I love you too Justin,” Lance replied. It was Justin’s turn to smile. “Shall we go in and get something to eat?” Justin nodded and took Lance’s hand. Then, the two of them disappeared inside the restaurant, fully aware of the life that now awaited them.
