The sun shone right through Lance’s bedroom window, coming to rest softly on his face and gently waking him up. He blinked a few times and glanced toward the window. His eyes caught sight of a large bouquet of flowers sitting in a vase on his nightstand. He squinted at it with a strange curiosity. There was a card sticking out of the center. Typed on the front was Lance.

Getting more curious about what was going on Lance sat up and leaned over to pull the card out of the flowers. He looked at the simple typing of his name on the front for several long moments before turning it over to read the back. The message, which was also typed read:

Lance,
Here is a bouquet to make your day
Now I have a fun game that we can play
Go down to the kitchen to find the first clue
On the trail to the one who admires you
Your Secret Admirer

“Secret admirer?” Lance asked himself out loud. Then he grinned. It had to be one of the guys because if it wasn’t someone he knew well, they wouldn’t have bothered to type the message so he wouldn’t recognize their handwriting. He only hoped it was the one person he wanted to be with more than anyone else in the world.

He jumped up, dressed quickly, and ran out the door. He reached the kitchen in record time. He figured he would have to look around for the clue because there was nothing at first glance. He began opening cabinets and looking behind items on the counters. So far, he was having no luck. Finally, deciding he was thirsty, he opened the refrigerator. There it was, the little white clue card, attached to the milk. Lance forgot his thirst and snatched the card off the milk.

Lance,
Congratulations, you found clue number one
Now let’s get started and have some fun
Clue two you’ll find on a musical thing
In the room where we practice and sing
Your Secret Admirer

Lance dropped the card on the table and dashed out of the kitchen. He was running through the living room to get to the main hallway when he ran into Joey, literally. Joey grabbed him by both shoulders.

“Whoa! Slow down there cowboy, where are you going in such a hurry?”

“To the studio at the back of the house!” Lance cried, pushing pass him and running on. Joey stared after him, a confused expression on his face.

Lance ran into the studio a minute later. His eyes darted hopefully to Justin’s drum set but the clue wasn’t there. He was disappointed but only for a moment. “Right,” he said to himself, “If it is Justin, he wouldn’t leave the clue on his drum set, it would be too obvious.” He moved his gaze slowly over the other instruments and his eyes finally came to rest on his keyboard. Sticking out between the keys, directly in the center, was the clue card. He ran over and snatched it up quickly.

Lance,
Well, you have found clue number two
And that is very good for you
Travel out back to find clue three
Look very closely at every tree
Your Secret Admirer

Again, he dropped the card and ran out of the room. He turned right and ran down the connecting hall to the back door. It was the fastest way to the backyard from the studio. He opened the door and the first thing he saw, was Chris watering some plants. He nodded his head at Lance but didn’t say anything. Lance nodded back. He walked over to the first tree and circled it, examining it carefully, but finding nothing.

He continued in this fashion until he had reached Chris and his plants. Frustrated, he turned to face him. “Chris, you haven’t seen a white card attached to a tree out here by any chance, have you?” To his surprise, Chris nodded.

“Right over there,” he replied, pointing with his free hand to the lone tree on the other side of the backyard. Lance smacked his forehead.

“Of course!” he cried. “Thanks Chris!” he called, running off towards the tree.

“Anytime!” Chris called back and went back to watering the plants.

Lance approached the tree and circled it, examining it carefully. Then he spotted the card. It was way up in the break of the branches. He would have to jump to reach it. He bent low and sprang up, reaching out a hand to grab the card. He missed it and had to jump again. This time, he succeeded in knocking the card to the ground. He bent over and picked it up.

Lance,
Good job on finding clue number three
But you’re still far from finding me
Travel a bit further for clue four
Go look on our neighbor’s door
Your Secret Admirer

Lance was a bit stumped here. Sure, he just had to look on his neighbor’s door, the question was, which one? He sat down in the grass to consider the clue for a moment. The Beckers, who lived on the left, were away on vacation. The Dodges, who lived on the right, didn’t really like to be bothered much. After realizing this, Lance figured that there was no way his secret admirer would leave the clue on the Dodges’ door. So, it had to be on the Beckers’.

Smiling to himself, Lance got up and headed for the gate that led from the backyard to the front of the house. He unlatched it and headed out to the sidewalk. Turning left he walked briskly down to the Beckers’ house. Sure enough, there was a white card on the door. He ran up the walk to the door and pulled the card off. This was getting more and more exciting.

Lance,
Yea! You found clue number four
I hope you’re ready for more
For clue five, just get in your car
And take a drive to our favorite bar
Your Secret Admirer

Lance whipped around and darted for the garage. He fumbled in the pocket of his jeans for his car keys. He found them and darted in. The first thing he noticed was that two of the other cars were also missing. One was JC’s and the other was Justin’s. Lance’s heart leapt. Now he knew for sure it had to be either JC or Justin. He didn’t mind either but he hoped with all his heart it was the one he had been in love with himself since day one.

Lance was just getting in his car when Joey entered the garage. He looked at him and Joey just shook his head. Lance figured Joey could tell he was still rushing. He shrugged and finished getting in his car, shutting the door with a loud slam. He saw Joey wince as he unlocked his own car door. He did not wait for him to pull out though; he started the car and squealed out of the garage. He could see Joey shaking his head in warning through his rearview mirror. He smirked before glancing both ways and turning onto the street, heading for the bar.

As he drove down the street, he could see people watching his car, staring at it with a look of longing. He knew they had to want his car. It couldn’t be him they wanted because they couldn’t see him, his windows were tinted. He knew they would want him if they could see him. He smirked to himself, knowing, he had this great car and they wanted it. That was one thing about himself that he kept hidden, he loved people wanting what he had.

He pulled into the bar’s parking lot and parked the car in a spot right out front. He didn’t bother to look for Justin or JC’s car; he knew they wouldn’t be here. The card had said clue and he knew if he was going to be finding his secret admirer, it would’ve said, “Me”. He walked up to the front door of the bar and stepped inside. It was nearly empty but he wasn’t surprised, no one really drank this early in the morning.

“Hey Lance,” Rick, the bartender said to him. Lance waved and walked over.

“Hey Rick, how’s it going?” he said, taking a seat on one of the stools.

“Pretty good. Hey, someone left this with me earlier, told me to give it to you.” He bent down and came up again, dropping the white clue card on the counter. Lance brightened.

“Thanks Rick!” He grabbed the card and ran out the door.

“Anytime!” Rick called after him.

Lance did not bother to look at the card right away. He got in his car and drove down the street to the park. He pulled over and turned the engine off, leaving the key in the ignition so he could listen to the radio. Then he picked the card up off the dashboard.

Lance,
I see you have found clue number five
Glad my game is keeping you alive
For clue six, go get some grub
At the café next to the club
Your Secret Admirer

He had to sit for a moment to figure out which club his admirer meant. Then it hit him and he started up the car again. He sped along down the street in the opposite direction of the way he had come. The only club he knew of that was next to a café, just happened to be Justin’s favorite place to party. His heart skipped a beat. Although he knew the club itself would’ve been a dead give away, there was no way the clue could be left in there because the club was only open at night.

He turned a corner and pulled into an empty space in front of the café. He killed the engine and got out of the car. He stood for a moment, reading the café menu that was posted in the window but decided he wasn’t hungry. He was too anxious to find his secret admirer to be hungry. He pulled open the door and stepped inside.

The lady at the counter smiled as she wiped it down with a rag. Lance nodded at her and glanced around the café. Every booth and table seemed to be filled. Then his eyes landed on a booth in the corner in front of a large window. He headed for it and squinted at the napkin dispenser. There was something odd about it. When he got closer, he realized what it was; a white clue card had been pressed neatly in the napkin dispenser. He reached his hand across the table and pulled it out.

Lance,
Excellent, you found clue number six
Only four clues left to fix
I think you’ll like going to clue seven
At this store you feel in heaven
Your Secret Admirer

Lance didn’t even have to think about this one. He knew he would find the next clue at his all time favorite clothing store. The girl gave him a curious look as he dashed out of the café. He waved to her and she blinked. He knew she was wondering what was so important he would leave without eating anything.

He got in his car and sped off again. He was becoming increasingly more excited. He was getting closer and closer to his secret admirer. Judging by what clue six had said, clue ten would be the one to lead him to his admirer. He was so excited, he didn’t realize he was speeding and nearly passed a cop before slowing down. Luckily, he was alerted in enough time to not be caught by the cop. He hummed softly to himself as he made his way to the mall.

It took him a few minutes to find a place to park but when he finally did, he got out and hurried to the mall doors. He dashed inside and practically ran up the escalator to the second floor. He went rushing through the crowds of people so fast, that he knocked some people’s packages out of their hands. “Sorry!” he called out as he ran by. Within minutes he had run into his favorite clothing store and had screeched to a halt when he almost ran into one of the clerks.

“Whoa!” the clerk said, putting a hand up to stop him. “Where’s the emergency Lance? We aren’t having a sale.” Lance was panting, trying to catch his breath. He smiled at the clerk.

“Sorry Sean,” he said when he finally caught his breath. “I’m on a mission. Have you seen a small white card around here somewhere?” Sean looked at him for a moment.

“Don’t know. You might want to try over by your favorite rack though.” He winked and hurried off to help another customer. Lance smiled and walked briskly to the back of the store. He began picking through the items on the rack one at a time. He got half-way through when he found the small white card sticking out of the back of a shirt. He plucked it and turned it over.

Lance,
So, you’ve found clue number seven
Told you it was in your heaven
Go back to the house for clue eight
You’ll find it somewhere on the front gate
Your Secret Admirer

Lance spun on his heel and dashed from the store again. He didn’t stop there. He ran back through the crowds, back down the escalator, back out the front door, and back to his car. He got in and started it up. Whoever had arranged this was sure giving him the run around. But Lance didn’t care, as long as he was well rewarded at the end.

He glanced at the clock in his car and it was almost eleven-thirty. He drove as quickly as he could without exceeding the speed limit. He was wondering where clue eight was going to lead him. He figured it best to just leave his car parked out front just in case he had to leave the house again.

He pulled up in front of the gate and turned the car off. Then he got out of the car and headed up the walk. It wasn’t hard to spot the card. It was leaning between the bars of the center portion of the gate. He reached up his hand and took it down carefully. He took a breath and flipped it over.

Lance,
This is clue number eight
Hurry in, it’s not too late
Inside the house you’ll find clue nine
One the table where we dine
Your Secret Admirer

He stuck the card in his pocket and went around to the side gate, which was still open from when he had come out earlier. He pulled the gate shut behind him and walked on to the backyard. Chris was no longer there so Lance figured he had finished the yard work. Instead of going in the back door, he walked around to the other side and went through the door that led to the kitchen. Chris was sitting at the table, eating a sandwich and reading a magazine. Lance smiled at him as he passed, walking on through to the dining room.

A first glance at the table showed nothing peculiar. Of course he didn’t think this clue would be in plain view. He glanced in the fruit bowl that sat in the center of the table but there was no sign of the clue in there. He lifted each piece of fruit, looking under it with no success. He frowned and folded his arms across his chest.

“You might want to try looking under the bowl,” said a sudden voice from behind him. Lance spun around to see Chris standing against the doorframe, also with his arms folded across his chest. He gave Lance a small smile. Lance smacked himself on the forehead.

“Now why didn’t I think of that?” he asked out loud. Chris shrugged and went back in the kitchen. Lance picked up the bowl and sure enough, there it was, the white clue card, set neatly under the fruit bowl. He let out a sigh of relief and picked up the card.

Lance,
You got clue number nine
You’re sure doing fine
In the house too is clue ten
You’ll find it where you first began
Your Secret Admirer

Lance started to head for the kitchen but stopped, thinking about what the clue said. Then, he whirled around and headed for the stairs in the front hall instead. He had realized it was a trick clue. Although he had officially started the journey to find his secret admirer in the kitchen, the whole thing had actually begun in his room when he found the bouquet. He made his way up the stairs to his room.

He opened the bedroom door and the first thing he noticed was the card sitting propped up against his pillow. He went to pick it up and realized his bed was made. Someone head been in the room since he had left that morning. He knew that because in his haste to get started on finding his secret admirer, he had actually left his bed a mess. That was certainly not something typical of Lance. He nervously plucked the card from its spot on the bed. He knew the clue on this card would take him to his secret admirer. He shut his eyes for a moment and looked down to read the card.

Lance,
And now you have found clue number ten
Congrats, you’re very close to the end
This time though, it is me you seek
I’m waiting for you at Hillcrest Peak
Your Secret Admirer

Lance gasped and his breath caught in his throat. Hillcrest Peak was where people who were truly in love went to be alone. Was his secret admirer telling him he had more than a crush? He didn’t know. One thing was for sure, he definitely had more than a crush on that special person he so hoped was behind the whole thing.

This time, as he went back out to the car, he did not rush. He planned on taking his time so that he could gather up his courage. He pulled carefully away from the curb and turned around so he would be heading towards Hillcrest Rd. He took several calming breaths as he drove. He gulped heavily as he turned onto Hillcrest Rd. When he reached the dirt road that led up to Hillcrest Peak, he paused altogether. This was it; in a few moments, he was going to meet his secret admirer. He only hoped he was happy with who it was.

Lance shut his eyes tight and took one last calming breath. Then he opened his eyes and began to climb the peak. He turned off the radio and rode in complete silence. When he approached the top however, he saw no one there, it was completely deserted.

He pulled over and parked the car. He opened the door and slowly got out. He shielded his eyes and scanned the area but saw no one. He sighed and looked down at the ground, thinking the whole thing must’ve been a joke the guys were playing on him. If it was, it was a very cruel joke and Lance would be very angry and hurt at the one who’s bright idea it was to play such a cruel joke on him. Suddenly, a pair of gentle hands slid around his waist.

“I hoped you’d show up,” said a familiar voice from behind him. Lance’s heart skipped a beat. There was no mistaking the voice of the man he had loved so deeply for so long. It belonged to Justin. Lance put his own hands atop the younger man’s and held them to him.

“I was beginning to think the whole thing was a joke. I didn’t see anyone at all when I got here,” he said in a quiet voice. Although he couldn’t see it, he could tell Justin was smiling. He allowed Justin to gently turn him around, his hands still wrapped around Lance’s waist.

“I’m sorry you felt that way. I decided to wait out of site so I could surprise you when you showed up. I guess that wasn’t such a good idea.” Lance gasped as Justin pulled him closer.

“No,” he said. “It just made it all the more perfect.” Justin smiled. For a moment, the two of them just stood there, staring into each others eyes. Then, Lance took matters into his own hands and leaned in, pressing his lips to Justin’s. Justin did not pull away. He deepened the kiss and ran his hands up Lance’s body, bringing them to rest in his hair. He gave Lance’s hair a soft tug. Lance gasped and moaned into Justin’s mouth. He parted his lips to allow Justin’s tongue access into his mouth. He massaged Justin’s tongue with his own. Finally, Lance broke the kiss, breathing heavily. “I love you, Justin Timberlake, I always have.” Justin smiled.

“I love you too, Lance Bass.” It was Lance’s turn to smile. Justin kissed him softly. “Mine?” he asked in a cute voice. Lance laughed and nodded.

“Yours,” he agreed. Not a word more was said as he crushed their lips together once more, indulging them both in heated passion.

The End

I hope you all enjoyed. Feel free to give me feedback!
