THE O-TOWN MANSION, NEXT MORNING
Alyssa yawned as she strolled into the kitchen for some breakfast. She found Trevor and Dan already there, eating cereal. “Morning,” she said, walking over to the cabinet and pulling it open. Dan and Trevor nodded to her and went on eating their cereal. She gazed at all the cereal boxes in the cabinet, each one labeled with one of the guys’ names. She turned to Dan and Trevor, a confused look on her face. “Why do each of you have your own cereal?”
Trevor smiled. “Because we each have different kinds that we like to eat. Some of us don’t like the kinds that someone else does. So we bought five different cereals for five different people.” Alyssa looked puzzled.
“But there are six different cereals,” she said. Trevor looked at Dan and they both laughed.
“That’s right,” Dan said. “Cereal number six is Corn Pops, a kind all five of us like. Why do you think Erik said we were all out on the bus? It’s usually the cereal we pack the most of when we go on tour because it’s one we can all agree on.” Alyssa nodded, finally beginning to understand.
“So, which cereal do I eat?” she asked.
“Do you like Coco Puffs?” Dan asked. She nodded. “Then you can have some of my cereal. I don’t mind sharing.” He got up to put his bowl in the sink. “Milk’s on the counter. We usually leave it out until everyone’s had their cereal.” Alyssa nodded again and watched him as he left the room. She smiled lightly to herself and then turned to look at Trevor.
“So,” she began, folding her arms across her chest. Trevor’s eyes went up to hers as he took another bite of his cereal. She was smirking. He wiped his mouth with a napkin and folded his hands on the table.
“So what?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. Alyssa’s smirk widened.
“What’s down with you and Bree? You better tell me because if you don’t, I’ll find out from her and she won’t refuse to tell me. I know something’s going on and I want to know what.” She was still smirking and the smirk turned into a smile when she saw Trevor blush. “Aw, something is going on isn’t it?” she added in a falsely sweet voice. Trevor blushed even deeper. Just then, Bree came into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Trevor. Alyssa smirked again. “So, I was right. And you invited her to stay the night too I see.” Trevor’s blush continued to deepen. Bree laughed and kissed him on the side of the neck.
“Morning Lissa,” she said, looking up at Alyssa.
“Morning Bree,” Alyssa responded. “Since Trevor here is too shy to say anything, would you mind telling me what’s going on between you two?” Bree shook her head.
“Not at all Lis. In fact, I’d be honored to give you the 4-1-1.” Trevor, who had started to take another bite of cereal, nearly choked on it when he heard her say that. Bree looked down on him. “Come on Trev, we did agree that the group could know, just not the world yet.” Trevor sighed. He looked up at her and kissed the bottom of her chin.
“You’re right,” he said. “Who better to start with than your best friend?” He looked at Alyssa. “Alright, you really want to know?” she nodded. “Bree and I are getting married,” he said with a huge grin. Bree’s mouth dropped open and Alyssa smirked.
“Right and I am the queen of England. Maybe in the future groom boy but I want the now, and I mean the truth.”
“Wow, you really know how to bring a guys fun down Lis.” She smirked again. “Okay, okay, we got the hookups, we’re going out. Satisfied?” Alyssa nodded.
“That’s what I thought. I knew it was going to happen. What with all that flirting the two of you kept doing. I totally approve too. You are so much better for her than Rion ever was. Speaking of which, he hasn’t called you lately, has he Bree?” Bree shook her head. “Good, I hope that means he’s out of the picture permanently.” Just then, Bree’s cell rang. Trevor and Alyssa fell quiet as she answered it.
“Hello?” Bree frowned in disgust. Alyssa figured she had spoken to soon. She gave her a look that said ‘is it Rion?’ Bree nodded and Alyssa’s head fell. A few moments went buy and Bree’s eyes went wide. “What on earth do you mean you’re in Orlando?!” At this, Trevor shot up out of his chair so fast it fell over. He turned to face Bree and snatched the phone out of her hand.
“Who the hell is this?!” Trevor shouted into the phone. “Oh, so you’re this Rion guy she and Alyssa keep talking about!” he said a moment later. “What do you want?” He then pulled the phone away from his ear and clicked on the speaker phone icon so that everyone could hear. Dan had come back into the room, curious about what was going on. Erik had also emerged from upstairs and he was watching wide-eyed.
“I want to see Bree,” Rion said, unaware that he had been put on speaker phone. Trevor put up a finger to silence everyone.
“Well you can’t,” he said.
“Who says I can’t? She’s my girlfriend!”
“First of all, no, she’s not your girlfriend anymore, she broke up with you! And secondly, I say you can’t and if you have a problem with it, you can take it up with my management. I highly doubt they would be pleased with you trying to start something with me.”
“Is that so?”
“Damn straight!”
“Who do you think you are Mr. Big shot?! Some big ass celebrity or something?!” Rion started to laugh.
“I don’t think, I know. My name is Trevor Penick. I am a member of the ever popular, O-town. Bree is with me now so you can just forget about her. She wants nothing to do with you anymore. I demand you leave Orlando immediately or I will call the cops and report you as a stalker!” He heard Rion gasp.
“You wouldn’t dare!”
“Oh believe me, I would!” Trevor said in the most serious voice he had ever spoken in.
“Fine, I’ll leave, for now. But this isn’t over with!” There was a click as Rion hung up the phone. Trevor clicked Bree’s cell off and handed it back to her. She was stunned as were Dan and Erik. Neither of them had ever heard or seen Trevor so angry before. They doubted Jacob or Ashley had either. Erik was still wide-eyed and Trevor turned to look at him.
“Good morning Erik,” he said as though nothing had happened.
“Uh, morning Trevor.”
“What’s wrong?” Trevor asked him. Erik slowly made his way over to the cabinet to get some cereal.
“What was that all about? I’ve never seen you so angry.”
“Some ex of Bree’s. He still thinks she’s his girlfriend. He actually had the nerve to show up here in Orlando. So, I did what any decent person would’ve done, I told him off.”
“Um, Trevor?” Dan said, walking up behind him. Trevor turned to look at him.
“What?”
“You said Bree was with you now.”
“Yeah, so.”
“So, does that mean the two of you are a couple?” Trevor blushed slightly and looked down at the floor. After a moment, he looked back up at Dan.
“Yes, it does. I will let all you guys know but I don’t want this to get out to the public. I’m also not ready to say anything to the Mikes. The last thing I need is for them to take Bree off the tour. I don’t want to be responsible for her losing her job.”
“You won’t be,” Alyssa said. “Bree is employed by my manager. That gives the Mikes no right to fire her from her position. The only one who has the right to officially remove Bree from the tour is Mark, my manager. She is his employee, not the Mikes.”
“She’s right Trev,” Erik said. “The Mikes have no right to take her off the tour as she is not under their employment. If they did, they could go to court for that.” Trevor sighed.
“I know. I’m just not ready to let them know what’s going down yet. If it’s all the same to you guys, I rather keep it quiet.”
“Fine,” said Dan, “But just remember, if you don’t tell them by the start of the tour, the two of you will have to sneak around to be together when they aren’t around. That means no touchy feely stuff in any way when the Mikes are present.” Trevor sighed again.
“I know and I will tell them before then. I just need some time to figure out how I am going to say it.”
“Time to figure out how you are going to say what?” Jacob asked, coming into the room and grabbing a banana. He sat down next to Erik who had just sat down with his cereal.
“How he’s going to tell the Mikes about us being together,” Bree answered. Jacob shrugged.
“Don’t know man but I would recommend taking it easy. Don’t blurt it out all at once. Ease your way onto the topic. That way, it doesn’t cause as much of a fadista when you tell them.”
“Fadista?” Alyssa asked in a confused voice.
“Fight,” Erik explained. She nodded to show that she understood.
“Thanks for the advice Jacob,” Trevor said. He picked up his bowl and went to put it in the sink. “That will come in handy. They seem to be less upset when we don’t just spring something on them.”
“Exactly,” Jacob said, “Why do you think I suggested it?” He gave Trevor a wink and Trevor smiled.
“You’re a great friend Jake.”
“Of course, they don’t call me the Best Friend for nothing.” He got up to go throw his banana peel in the garbage.
“Aren’t you going to eat anymore?” Alyssa asked him. He shook his head.
“I’m not very hungry,” he said. Alyssa narrowed her eyes, and walked straight up to him, her arms still folded across her chest.
“Jacob Christopher Underwood, breakfast is the most important meal of the day so I demand that you eat more than just a banana! You will do as I say if I have to shove it down your throat myself!” Jacob was taken aback. He stumbled backwards, his eyes wide with surprise.
“Okay, okay, I’ll eat more. Calm down Lis, no need to get out of control.” She smiled as he went to the cabinet and took out his cereal.
“That’s more like it,” she said in a satisfied voice. The other guys were also looking at her in surprise. “What?” she asked, “He’s a man and a man has to eat. I have a young brother, I’m used to making sure that he eats enough. It’s really no big deal.”
“Good morning everyone,” Ashley said, coming into the room and head straight for the cereal cabinet.
“Good morning sleepy head,” Erik responded between bites of cereal. Ashley smiled as he poured himself a bowl of cereal, added some milk and sat down to start eating. Dan shook his head disapprovingly as he went over and put the milk away.
“What?” Ashley asked in a defensive voice.
“Ash, how many times do we have to go over this?” Dan replied. “When you’re the last one to use the milk, you have to put it away.”
“I was going to.”
“When?”
“When I was done with my cereal.”
“That’s what you said last time and remember what happened?” Ashley looked confused. He shook his head. Dan sighed. “We wound up having to buy a whole new jug of milk because you left it out on the counter too long.”
“Sorry. I forget things, remember?” Dan sighed again. He shook his head as he left the room. Ashley shrugged and looked at everyone else. “What’s wrong with having such a problem as that? I know it’s a bad thing but I can’t help it and neither can anyone else that has the same problem!” By this time, he was red in the face. He didn’t bother to eat anymore of his cereal. He picked up the bowl, walked over to the sink, and practically slammed it down. There was a loud clatter and milk and cereal flew up into the air. Then, he turned on his heel and stormed from the room.
Alyssa was speechless. She could not believe Ashley had just blown up the way he did and over a little problem of his too. But she didn’t blame him, it looked as though Dan was being pretty hard on him about it. She looked around at the others who were still in the room. Jacob was paused mid-bite, his spoon half-way to his mouth. Erik was on his way to the sink to fix the mess Ashley had made and put his own bowl in the sink. Trevor was just sitting there, Bree behind him with her hand on his shoulder. She seemed to be just as surprised as Alyssa was.
“Don’t worry about him,” Erik said returning from the sink. “He’s always a bit touchy when it comes to the subject of his forgetfulness. He’ll come around. Dan, on the other hand, needs to remember what a touchy topic this is for Ashley. He doesn’t like being so forgetful all the time, you know.” Alyssa didn’t say anything but nodded to show that she understood.
“Where did Ashley go?” Bree asked quietly.
“Probably outside to his favorite spot to be alone and think; it’s where he always goes when he’s upset about something,” Trevor responded. Bree looked down at him and nodded. She looked back at Erik.
“Are you sure he’ll be alright?” Erik, who was looking out the kitchen window, nodded. He pointed a finger towards a tree. Bree walked over and looked at where he was pointing. “Is that where he is?” she asked and Erik nodded again.
“That’s his favorite spot in the whole backyard,” Erik said. “When we see him out there, it usually means he doesn’t want to be bothered. Just give him some time, he’ll be his old self again soon.”
Alyssa still did not say anything as she followed Erik’s gaze out the window and watched Ashley sitting under the tree with his arms around his knees. He looked so peaceful to her like that. His head was tilted toward the sky and he seemed to be watching the clouds. She hoped that he would be alright again soon. She really like Ashley and it made her sad to see him so hurt. She knew it wasn’t easy for him and she made a promise to herself that she would try her best not to upset him in anyway. She didn’t want to give Ashley cause to hate her. She nodded again and smiled sadly at Ashley, hoping that things would soon be better for him again.
