KINDS O' BOARDS
Types:

FREE RIDING:
The differences between free riding boards and other types of boards are basically that the free riding board's bindings are usually set a couple centimeters toward the tail of the board (this improves carving ability and perfomance in powder). Also, the free ride boards are stiffer in the tail than the nose, which improves carving even more.

FREESTYLE:
Freestyle boards generally have inserts for the bindings in the center of the board. The nose and the tail of the freestyle boards are usually equal (instead of how the free ride is curved more in the front), which makes it possible to ride just as good going either way.
ALPINE:
The alpine boards are probably the rarest boards on the market, but they are not that cool, unless you are racing. The alpine board has no curve in the tail and a very small bend in the nose. They are much narrower than any other kind of board and are very, very stiff.
