Powers: Using her vocal cords, Svetlana can seduce people, hypnotize them, and lull them into deep, coma like states. She has full control of this ability, and therefor, she is able to "turn it off" at will.
History: Svetlana and her twin brother, Dmitri, were born into the Romanov family, which, according to legend, descended from Czar Nicholas' family. Now, however, the Romanov family is a notorious mob family. Many family members were/are mutants.
Their mother, Olga Amasnova, was the mistress of the boss, Arkadi Ilya Romanov. She died when the twins were 2 years old. Her death was mysterious, but no one ever questioned it. Arkadi was known simply by his first name, even by his children. The twins, along with their older siblings, Fyodor, Pasha, Vladimir, Oksana and Elena, grew up in luxury, not really knowing exactly what their father's business was. Nonetheless, the twins had a deep bond with their father, and he always had favoured the twins.
This all changed when Svetlana and Dmitri were 8 years old. They had been at church with their nanny. When they returned, their entire family, including Arkadi had been murdered. Fearing the children's lives, their nanny, Natalya, packed them up and fled Russia for Canada. Once in Canada, Natalya abandoned them in an orphange and disappeared.
The fiercely independent twins refused to be held in an orphange. They were able to contact their great-aunt Lyubov Amasnova, who had left Russia for Toronto decades earlier. She was more than happy to take in the two. The family of three lived peacefully together in Toronto.
One day, while cleaning in the kitchen, Svetlana started to sing. Her voice was superbly operatic. Noting this, Lyubov arranged for a Broadway audition. Svetlana was rejected for the play, however, she was placed in the opera "Carmen", singing the lead in the National Canadian Production, at the age of 12.
Those were the first signs of her mutation, which fully manifested by the age of 14. She often turned to Dmitri for support, as he also turned out to have the X gene. The two grew even closer when Lyubov died of heart disease at the age of 77, when the twins were just 16 years old.
Svetlana was still in demand as an opera singer, even though she was just in high school. Her career suddenly ended however, when she became pregnant at the age of 17. She would never reveal who the father was, and the child, a son which she named Vanek, was born with several disabilities and underdevelopments. Vanek died two weeks after he was born.
Svetlana and Dmitri were both very devestated. Svetlana refused to sing opera anymore, thus, becoming a fallen star by the age of 18. Their source of income running low, the twins decided to join the family business, starting the reincarnation of the Romanov mafia family. They returned to Russia, where, along with several cousins and close friends, they reclaimed the family's once golden assets. Dmitri and Svetlana are the undesputed heads of the family, though they do none of the dirty work themselves. They control the majority of prostitution and drug trafficing in Russia and Eastern Europe.
The twins are also members of the prestigious Underground, a group of International Mutants, whose main goal is to control the world's vices. As members of the Underground, they are often travelling the world, looking to wipe out opposition.

Svetlana also has an extreme vocal range, from soprano to bass. She has perfect pitch and uses her operatic voice as a decoy.
On a side note, Lana's powers do not effect Dmitri, and Dmitri's power's don't effect Lana.
Personality: Svetlana is extremely close to her brother, and vice versa, almost to a point where it makes one think. She is a very private person and, despite the fact that her powers are voice oriented, she is also very quiet.
**Other: She speaks Russian, English, and French. She and her brother have developed a secret language that only they can speak. It is a hybrid of Russian and English, with random other elements involved. Svetlana also shows signs of a mental illness of some sort.
She is skilled with guns and ammunitions, although her weapon of choice is a throwing dagger.
