My Baptism
Sunday, April 20th, 2003 was the date of my baptism. It was Easter Sunday, the church was packed, cameras flashing, people laughing, kids running around. It seemed like a regular Easter Sunday; with the outbreak of SARS precautionary measures had to be taken and each baptism candidate had to have their temperature checked. Long story short... I didn't get baptized that Sunday; but that's not the reason why I'm telling you this story.

Events
My good friend, Irina, is leaving this month for Ottawa. We're throwing her a surprise party; I'm excited about it, but at the same time, sort of sad. I mean, she's leaving us...forever. Of course she's going to visit... well she better. But its just not the same. We're all done highschool, and everyone is moving away. Lisa's off to MacMaster, Rebecca to BYU in Utah... the friends i've known since elementary and junior high school, are all leaving. I'm just thankful that I've got friends who are staying in T.O.
Other events... oh yes, there's a summer retreat in August for our church... I wouldn't mind going if my sis came, I'm hoping to get her more involved with our church. Right now she only attends Sunday service, and not always on a regular basis.
Oh, and of course, there's Alan's conference at his church... Thanks Alan for inviting me.
Besides that, we've got a whole bunch of stuff planned for this summer, the EX, centre island, guitar lessons, getting our G license (i guess guitar lessons, and our licenses aren't really events, but its still something I've got to get done this summer)... its CRAZY. I hope there's a John 4:24 sometime this summer, I really enjoyed last years one, and this year's YOAH was fun too. I was really impressed it was much more multicultural than I expected, and I'm really glad about that.
Giving thanks

Music
My music tastes are all over the place, but its mostly centralized around rock music. Many find this type of music clashes with the Christian religion (some even calling it the "devil's" music). That's just a stereotype. I agree, some music within the rock style may have some demonic references or may spawn from demonic influence... but that's not the type of music I listen to. I like the louder heavier edge, but its not just about the loud stuff, its about the perfect match between lyrics and accoustics, and that's what music is. Some may argue, why not listen to Christian rock though? Well, I do, but I think its important to listen to other music as well. If you surround yourselves by Christian things... Christian music, books, and people, what are you in fact doing? Your separating yourselves from the world. God intended us to live among the dangers of this world so that we might understand His "lost children" (YOAH) and share the gospel with them. This does not mean do as they do, but rather understand why they do what they do. I'm rambling again.
I'm thinking of getting the new Christian worship CD that's out, its called "Worship Together". This CD is a compilation of many popular modern worship songs (its a double CD). Besides that, there isn't much I'm interested in music wise. Music has been pretty bad recently... i hope this decade doesn't turn out to be like the 80s.
The bands that I will always appreciate:
  • The Smashing Pumpkins
  • Nirvana
  • Incubus
  • Bush
  • Silverchair
  • Oasis
and others...
