Chris Shivers

In 2005, Chris Shivers proved why he is considered one of the world''s top bull riders. Coming off a 2004 season filled with injuries and surgery, Shivers brought his game into the 2005 season. With three PBR Built Ford Tough event wins and numerous top 10 finishes in 2005, this two-time world champion easily qualified for his eighth PBR World Finals. A severe concussion suffered at the next to last regular season event kept Shivers from making a hard push for the world championship. With season earnings of nearly $260,000, fans can look for Chris to surpass the $3 million career earnings mark -- the first in bull riding history -- during 2006. Other history-making highlights include: the first PBR bull rider to win more than $300,000 in prize money in one year (1998); the first PBR bull rider to reach the $1 million mark (2001) and the $2 million mark (2003); the first PBR bull rider to register 13 90-point rides in one season (1998); the highest marked ride in PBR history (a 96.5 point ride); and the first bull rider to win three consecutive Bud Light Cup events (2000). Shivers’ athletic ability and positive attitude have captured the hearts of PBR fans around the country as well as the attention of national media. Shivers has appeared on several national television shows including The Best Damn Sports Show, The Today Show and Last Call with Carson Daly, as well as being a featured member of the Rolling Stone Magazine''s Sports Hall of Fame. Shivers has been the subject of numerous pieces in national publications such as Newsweek and Esquire magazines, as well as countless newspaper articles.
