Sidi Jeremy Donald Campion
Sidi Jeremy Donald Campion, American Muslim
teacher and student of Islamic Law. Born in 1978 in the mid-western United
States, was educated in Asian studies and education at the University
of Michigan and the University
of Phoenix. His interest in Islam was
sparked in 1991 at The American School in Japan,
just outside of Tokyo, and he later
studied the traditional Islamic Sciences of Shafi'i
jurisprudence, practical spirituality (tazkiya), Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir), and
tenets of faith (`aqidah) with sheikhs from Yemen
and Jordan,
where he lived this past summer in order to increase his knowledge. His One Ummah Basketball Camp has been held annually over the last
four years, providing Muslim youth with affordable instruction and guidance
that rivals top non-Muslim camps. He now teaches at Ann
Arbor’s Michigan Islamic Academy after having taught
at Franklin’s Huda School
and Canton’s Crescent
Academy.
Works that he’s studied with sheikhs include: Al-Maqasid:
Imam Nawawi's Manual of Islam; Jawharat al Tawhid: Laqani’s Jewel of
Divine Oneness; Ihya Ulum al-Din: Imam Ghazali’s Revival
of the Religious Sciences; and Tafsir ibn Juzayy. He
currently operates Muslim Merchant Services, a business designed to address the
needs of Muslim store-owners and small businesses.
