SECTION ON RELATIONSHIPS OF THE ATTRIBUTES
33) So power relates to all possible things without any limits to that which it relates to.
1 - Relationship of Power
34) So affirm oneness for the Power of Allah and likewise for His Will & Knowledge, though the latter is wider (in what it relates to).
2 - Relationship of Will
- who defines what is good
- example of tree
3 - Relationship of Knowledge
- His saying “and knowledge, though it is wider”
- how this relates to Will (2 types of relationships)
- how this relates to Power (2 relationships)
- knowledge: Allah effectively knows all that is necessary, possible and impossible without ever having not known it
-overview of above three attributes (Power, Will, Knowledge)
- on determination and destiny (qada and qadr)
- Allah only willed that which He knew would be
4 - Relationship of Speech
35) In what it relates to for it relates to the necessary and impossible as well. Allah’s Speech also relates to the necessary, possible & impossible so let us follow
- His saying “so let us follow”
36) And the Hearing & Seeing of Allah relates to everything existent & likewise Discernment if affirmed

- The Relationship of Discernment
37) And Hearing & Seeing are different from knowledge. As for Life it does not relate to anything
THE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF ALLAH ARE ETERNAL
38) Our position is that the tremendous names of Allah & His personal Attributes are beginninglessly eternal
39) It has been chosen that His names are only divinely established, likewise His Attributes, so memorize this.
THE NAMES OF THE PROPHET ARE DIVINELY ESTABLISHED
- His saying “it has been chosen that His names...”
The Names of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are only Established by Revelation

TEXTS THAT WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE COMPARING ALLAH TO CREATION
40) Any text that might seem to imply similitude between Allah Most High & His creation, consign its meaning and seek to always affirm Allah’s transcendence.
- 2 ways to do this: both ways agree on negating the impossible meaning
- by the early Muslim scholars (salaf)
- by the later Muslim scholars (khalaf)
- explanation of the “coming of Allah” & other examples
THE QUR’AN IS THE ETERNAL SPEECH OF ALLAH
41) Affirm that the Qur’an is transcendent beyond createdness, and beware of Allah’s punishing (for those who state otherwise)
42) And every text that would seem to indicate createdness, we understand it within the context that it’s talking about
