Lesson 9: (From Section B: Prophethood)

PROPHETHOOD IS NOT ACQUIRED

63) And prophethood is not something acquired, even if one ascends to the highest ranks of good.

 - refutation of those saying it was acquired (through good deeds)

64) Rather, it is from the bounty of Allah.  He gives it to whomever He wills.  Exhalted be Allah, the giver of gifts.

RANKS OF CREATION – THE BEST OF THEM IS OUR PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE & BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM)

65) The absolute best of all creation is our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so leave any dispute

 - the saying of not distinguishing between prophets

66) And the prophets come after him in rank and after them the noblest of angels.

 - disagreement on who comes after the prophets

67) This and some of the scholars detailed it further and mentioned that some could be better than others.

ALLAH’S SUPPORTING HIS PROPHETS WITH MIRACLES

68) With miracles Prophets were supported as an honoring, and declare the protection of Allah for all of them to be necessary.

 - His saying “with miracles”

        - various levels (6)

 - example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

 - created causes & effects have certain relationships (with examples)

PROPHETS & ANGELS ARE NECESSARILY PROTECTED FROM SIN

  - His saying “and declare the protection of Allah for all of them to be necessary”

THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM) IS THE LAST PROPHET AND HIS MESSAGE IS TO ALL OF CREATION

69) The Best of Creation was chosen by Allah, that with him Allah completed prophethood and made his message general

 - how was he (peace and blessings be upon him) distinguished from other prophets

70) The Sacred Law the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with will not be abrogated with any other law until time itself will cease to be (the Last Day).

RULINGS RELATING TO ABROGATION

71) And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) abrogating the Sacred Laws of those before him occurred without any doubt may Allah abase anyone who says otherwise.

72) And the abrogation of some of the revelation with other parts of the revelation is possible, and there is no contradiction therein.

 - His saying “and the abrogation”

FROM THE MIRACLES OF OUR MASTER MUHAMMAD (PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM)

73) His miracles are numerous and precious, amongst them was the inimitable speech of Allah

       1) The Noble Qur’an

- His saying “inimitable speech of Allah”

       2) The Isra’ & Miraj

74) Believe, without doubt, in the Ascension of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the innocence of 'A'isha

         - what happened in this event

         - proofs it was in body & spirit

       3) The innocence of the Mother of Believers ‘A'isha (may Allah be pleased with her)

         - what happened in this event

         - Qur’anic ayat

THE BEST OF GENERATIONS

75) The Prophet’s companions  are the best of generations – so listen up - then those who followed the followers

 - being careful of regarding what one reads & listens to

- narrations of hadith

 - hadith on best of generations

THE RANKS OF THE SAHABA (MAY ALLAH BE PLEASED WITH THEM)

76) The best of the companions were those who were given the Caliphate and their matter in rank is according to the order in their caliphate.

 1) The Righteous Caliphs

- the position of the wives of Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

2) The ten promised paradise

77) And then after the 4 Caliphs come the other of the ten who were promised Paradise by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

            - the four Caliphs

            - the other six

3) The People of Badr

 78) And after them came the people of Badr, and then those who witnessed the Battle of Uhud, then those who were present at the covenant of Ridwan

4) The People of Uhud

  5) The People of the Covenant of Ridwan

WHO WERE THE EARLY FOREMOST ONES

79) The early believers, their virtue has been known by explicit texts but there is disagreement regarding who exactly they are.
