This Photo downtown Apache Junction 1960 construction of the Superstition Ho Hotel. The sign reads the $2,000,000.00 Superstition Ho Hotel opening July 1, 1960. The other reads Chanen Construction Company, the smaller reads Phoenix Surety Title Co. You can hardly see it but the far left is the Apache Trail Marker with the prospector and mule on top. The Trail is still the most popular place to take visitors.

The Lost Dutchman Gold Route marker Dedicated October 1961  to the memory of Jacob von Waltzer 1806 -1891 better known by many as The Lost Dutchman. You can see part of the Superstition Ho Sign.

The 1959 Apache Junction Burro Derby about a 20 mile hike  around the Superstition Mountain.  My father Elmer had silver dollar sized blisters, but he still made it with a smile. The Elson's Apache Building Supply, where he was employed, sponsered him.
