    My HTML:
This is a section about how I learned HTML, where I learned it, etc. I doubt anyone really cares about any of this unless they are looking to learn HTML and want to follow the trail I've blazed.

1. When did you create your first site?
Lol.. that would be in the 5th grade. So.. that would have made me.. uh.. [counts on fingers] 10. And that would have been either in 1998 or 1999.

2. What did it look like? What was it for?
Haha.. it sucked. I made it on the Express Page [aka Expage]. Those were the days man.. expage was free and you had these unnecessary longass URLS [http://expage.com/page/username] they had this /page in there for no reason. I made it because I liked the computer game Catz 3 or something, so I called the site Petz Day or something. The url [I'm 99% sure] was http://expage.com/page/petzday. But because I never updated it, I guess it got deleted. It consisted of one page and a complete expage template. Those of you who are familiar with expage, or at least the old, free version of it, know how ugly and lame and easy those things were to make. Great place to start for beginners, only now, they cost money. So no HTML or anything, duh, it was my first site.

3. How did you first learn of HTML? Or what was the first code you learned?
Well, I don't remember if it was the first code I learned, but after surfing through the site directory on expage, I stumbled across a site with a dropdown link list. It wasn't even a nice one, but I thought it was so cool and I had to learn how they did it. So, I must have left a message in their guestbook or something.. and the girl and I kept playing 'guestbook tag', I dunno if we didn't want to exchange emails or what.. so we made an expage site with just a guestbook and we would leave each other messages in there. A friend of hers did the code for her so she didn't know how. However, I was determined to find out.. we kept in touch through our guestbook page and she told me about Sara's HTML help at http://expage.com/page/moohelp [at the time there was still a /page in the URL]. Sara was pretty 'famous' online.. her site was http://expage.com/page/moomoooink. But thats besides the point. Her site was complete with codes, there were like 10 pages of HTML help and she added more and more pages. I soaked it up. Started by copying and pasting codes, then I would fiddle around with them, and soon I had the basics memorized.

4. What are some good HTML help sites that have helped you along the way?
Well, I used to go to Sara's page all the time at http://expage.com/moohelp, but then she got a domain for HTML: http://funky-chickens.com. She later passed that domain onto a friend, but I still have to go there to get some codes which I'm just too lazy to memorize. I also love http://dynamic-drive.com [however I think they deleted all the codes?], but nonetheless thats where I used to get all my DHTML scripts. Hm.. that's about it. Sometimes I'll look for a page with a color hex code list on a search engine or whatever. If I like a code on someone's site, I'll right click and view the source to figure out how they did it. However, I don't suggest doing this unless you know HTML as it can be quite overwhelming if you don't already know what you're looking for.

5. What about servers?
I began on Expage, then moved to Chickpages [which is no longer around--geez, this tells you how old I am. I feel 80. I was around when /page was there on Expage and it was free, and I was around when Chickpages was around.. wow..], I had tried to use Geocities before Chickpages, but I found it too difficult for being still a beginner. Then I moved to Angelfire followed by Geocities. I even used Emote for a while, but the thing was screwed from the start and all my stuff got deleted. Now I'm back on Angelfire. I still used Expage while using Chickpages and Angelfire for a while.. I found it very easy to use, only problem is you need longer codes but you have a limited amount of space, which sucks. But thats what I was raised on, so I found it to be the norm.

6. Any suggestions for the beginner?
All I can say is copy and paste, copy and paste, practice, play around with the codes, change them, figure out if you can make new codes by yourself by changing words, etc. Just mess around with it and eventually you'll get it.

7. What was your best site you made? Were you ever hacked?
My best site was my http://expage.com/emic [since now you have to pay, I think that page was probably deleted], but that site, which I later moved to Angelfire I think, I actually think I had it on Chickpages too for awhile... anyways, that site got me 'famous' on the web. There are a select few who I'd consider 'famous'.. anyways, that's also beside my point. I had some of my greatest layouts on that site.. and I used to get at least 25 visitors a day. Wow, it would take months for me to reproduce that now.. And yes, that got hacked. Both the expage version and the Angelfire version. After the Angelfire version got hacked [and by hacked, I don't just mean slight code alterations.. I mean full on hacked, like, they deleted it ALL.. subpages.. EVERYTHING =(..] I gave up on webdesigning for a while. All my work was wasted, so I decided to take a few months off.. and since then I think I've had a few little sites, but now I'm back!
