So you sit down to lunch, right? You take a knife full of jelly. Its clear. There all kinds of specks floating around. And . . .it's moving. GAYAAAAH! Whats wrong with it?????? The organized complex of inorganic and organic substances external to the nuclear membrane of a cell, including the cytosol, and mitochondria (or chloroplasts, which are found in plants).
n : the protoplasm of a cell excluding the nucleus
As always, some facts about Cytoplasm.
-the cytoplasm is between the nucleus & cell membrane.
-cytoplasm is constantly moving, streaming throughout the cell.
-many of the organelles are found in the cytoplasm
-jelly-like mixture of substances that make up the consistancy of the cell.
If the cell is a house, then the cytoplasm is the interior, and basically everything inside the house would be anything floating inside the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm is constantly flowing, and it looks a bit like jell-O.
Too right. But you know what else? If you compare a cell to a swimming pool, it would be the pavement.
"Elaborate... How so?"
Everything and everyone is just drifting around outside. It's the mass space.
"Isn't that more like the pool?"
That's what I thought, but it turns out that's more like the nucleus. The center of the operation.
"Oh, thanks for the pun. RIGHT."
